Downgrading iPod Touch on Mac OS X

2. Get your iPod touch to go into “Recovery Mode”:
   

   1. Press and hold the Power/Sleep button and the Home button simultaneously.
   2. Continue holding both buttons until iPod touch power off itself (about a 5-10 secs wait).
   3. Keep holding both buttons until you see the Apple logo, at which point release the Power/Sleep button but keep on holding down the Home button.
   4. Release the Home button when you see the Recovery Mode screen.
   5. The iTunes.app will launch, and the summary screen tells you your iPod touch is now in “Recovery Mode”.

3. In iTunes.app, you should see a screen with a “Restore” button. Press and hold the Option key before you click it. A file browser will pop up for you to browse and select the Firmware file you downloaded above.
4. It takes a while for iTunes to restore the firmware. When it’s done … it’s done. You can check in iTunes or your iPod touch the firmware version. Try to keep your OS X free of other processes (like Skpying, rendering video etc) that could interrupt the delicate firmware update process, k!?
5. After your iPod reboots, and connects itself to your iTunes.app, be sure to choose to setup your iPod as a new iPod. The other option to Restore from a backup will not work.

Alternative method to boot up in Recovery Mode

• Power off the iPod touch.
• Disconnect the USB cable.
• Press and hold down the Home button.
• Plug in the USB cable while still holding down the Home button.
• Release the Home button after you see the Recovery Mode screen.

The windows jailbreak works for ipod and iphone so it is prob the same with the mac version of it.
