Jailbreak the 2.1 iPod/iPhone firmware PICS

I'm sure there's already a tutorial on this somewhere, but I have nothing better to do.

First, what your going to want to do is download the firmware you need from the list below, and save it to the Desktop, or somewhere you'll be able to find it quickly.

iPhone 3G Firmware 2.1:

iphone Firmware 2.1:
iPhone Fire : Downloads

After that, download the newest version of QuickPwn.

RapidShare: Easy Filehosting

Now, open up the QuickPwn application, and select your device, and click next.



Next, click browse, and search for your 2.1 firmware, which should be saved on the Desktop, or wherever else you chose.



Now select what you would like it to install. I don't reccomend replacing boot logo's because it makes it harder to complete to last step, but hey, do what you want. Click next.



Now, connect your iPod/iPhone to your computer, 'X' out of iTunes, and READ CAREFULLY BEFORE MOVING ON.

It would be hard for me to take screenshots of the next step, but it is the final step. You are going to be prompted to hold down the lock button for 5 seconds, then hold the lock and home buttons for 3 seconds, then hold the home button untill the entire process is complete. It will tell you when to let go, and when to press, but it can catch you off guard. Also, in the last part of this step, when your hold the home button for "30 seconds" it stops counting down at about 21-19 and you still need to hold it down. I reccomend letting go when you start to see the apple logo come back, signalizing that the process is complete, and it is rebooting.

When all is done, but up your iPod, and you should have the Cydia and Intaller apps, as well as the Apple App Store. Enjoy your unlimited free downloads!

Ok does this support firmware v 2.1.1? Everytime I run it it loads about 1/3 the way and then stops. Can anyone help me?

Well, I don't believe that it supports 2.1.1 BUT, your restore packet could always be corrupted. Try re-downloading it and then go through the jailbreaking process.

what are you talking about

the apple store will be free for some reason because mine wasnt after i did that

but i did find the apple store patches

so what do you mean by that free downloads in the installer or cydia?

I meant free in the idea that Cydia and Installer have completely free apps, as apposed to not jailbreaking your iPod and having to pay for any apps worth anything.

Well Wesley, I don't personally own an iPhone yet, so I don't know firsthand.
But do to the fact you need to restore your iPod/iPhone, it almost guaranteed will at least delete your contacts, as for your plan I don't believe so as long as it's been activated once.
