hello i am looking into gold plating the back of ipods/iphones and i want to know if you can take off the black plastic wifi and if i cant will it die if it gets wet?

There's a reason why the back is plastic now. If it was metal you'd get crappy connections.

Im not sure if you can take the WiFi Cover off, but if you have managed to get the Ipod itself apart ( I assume you have because you are only Plating the Metal Backing) then it should come off. I cant imagine a way for Alpine to mate the 2 different Materials (Metal and Plastic)together permanently. if you cannot get it off then you wont be able to Gold Plate it because Dipping the full device into the Plating and cleaning solutions will most likely kill the Ipod/Iphone. The only way you will be able to Plate it in Gold is if you Manage to Separate the Metal Backing from the rest of the Device.

i found the following picture wich shows that there is only two screws holding it in

A.dosnt look the same
B.is very flaky on stainless steel
