mod 30 gig

ok so i want to mod my 30 gig ipod but i dont know where to start. I just want diffrent themes and backrounds, and games. and i cant find any good tuts. so help?

What kind of ipod is it(old ipod video, first nano, new video, ect).?

ok so first you must identify weather your ipod is a 5G or a 5.5G ipod

Now on to themes
All themes run off of a hack
hack are loaded to your ipod and then a theme is used to modify that ipod
this is all done using a program called ipod wizard: get it here


so lets say you download the Itouch hack
it normaly looks like this



How ever lets say you didn't like that background
you can download a theme for your itouch hack witch would make it look like this

now on to other OSes
their are currently two other OS that and IPod can run
1) rockbox
2) ipod linux

Rockbox looks a little like this



its not really ment for listing to music
it pretty much comes with every thing you need to play all the games (emulators a built in) and they are also alot better then ipodlinux's emulators IMO

Ipod linux is another one
ipod linux has what are known as podzalle meaning multiple podzilla
their are a million different versions of ipod linux
podzilla
floydzilla
zeroslackr

almost every thing is based around Podzilla 2
meaning all plug ins are made for Podzilla

however IMO Zeroslackr is by far the best
it is currently in development and a new build comes out with new features almost every month
it comes with alot of emulators prebuilt in even tho they suck because well IMO
Ipod linux sucks it really has no advantage at all

Apple OS - music and video
Rockbox - the Simple way to play games
Ipodlinux - hardcore confusing useless half working crap lol

bootloaders

when every you install a second os a bootloader must be installed to get to it

much like dual booting a compter

their are two major bootloaders

Rockbox boot loader - only allows rockbox and Apple os
Hold switch off on boot goes to Rockbox
hold switch on when rebooting goes to apple os

IPL loader is another one
this simply the only good thing ipod linux has ever made lol
this works with
ipodlinux
apple os
and Rockbox
and more
its all configured via a loader.cfg file that you put in your ipod root

ignore the unbelievably crappy screen and this is what it looks like


if your having trouble configuring your loader.cfg i made a simple C++ program that ask you qustions here
