Songs on iPod without iTunes

I was wondering if it would break your iPod to put songs on it using the method that you can view them without iTunes and then just copying and pasting? Sorry if it's hard to understand but I can't think of any other way of explaining.

Ok. If you want to view your songs without iTunes enable "Disk Mode" in itunes and your iPod will show up in My Computer as a removable disk drive. So go into it and be sure you enabled hidden files and folders and go look for your music. But the songs will be named differently

Yeah I thought you wouldn't understand. I know how to do that I was wondering if it would work if I copied and pasted the songs into those folders with the weird names.

No I want to be able to do it without any software using the way you can view the songs by enabling hidden files to be seen. I am the only one that knows how to see the songs without iTunes?
