Unanswered: iTunes not dectecting iPod

I just bought the new iPod classic today (the 80GB) and it didn't come with an installation disc or anything and I already had iTunes so I just hooked up my iPod to my laptop and it was detected the first time around. Now whenever I plug it to my laptop I get a little pop-up saying my iPod needs updated (think it was the software), of course I tried and then it gave me an unknown error and after it shows the error it doesn't detect my iPod until I re-connect.

Is there anything I can do?

that used 2 happen 2 me a bunch of times when i got my mini...
try to look to c if ur comp detects it cuz itunes may not be...
or just try to joggle your usb cable in ur ipod and/or comp around it

Wow. and no-one responds to my help thread

If you're ipod is connecting to the computer, you may unplug it and plug it back in.

If it's not connecting, do as follows.

Turn hold on, turn hold off
Hold the select and menu buttons at the same time (select is the middle button)
then when the apple icon appears
almost immediately hold select and play buttons down to force into diskmode.

other then that, unistall itunes, and reinstall the newest.

My iPod Video does this sometimes. I just reset it and then power it off, then connect it to the PC with iTunes open.

Yeah what these guys said will fix it

If it's not a newer version of iTunes, reset your iPod by doing what Raven said...I'm not sure the second part 'diskmode' is necessary though...0.o Seeing the Apple is usually enough for mine
