Ipod Problem

This is a discussion about Ipod Problem within the iPod Support section, where you will Have a problem with your iPod? Ask away.; hey, my ipod wont show up in itunes anymore... the usb port sees the ipod through the cable, but it just wont show up in itunes... anyone have an solution to this?

Thumbs down Unanswered: Ipod Problem
hey, my ipod wont show up in itunes anymore... the usb port sees the ipod through the cable, but it just wont show up in itunes... anyone have an solution to this?

Old Timer 
Send a message via AIM to FtK Shadow
  1. Quit iTunes
  2. Right click on My Computer/Computer and click Manage. If Windows requires your permission to continue, click Continue.
  3. Click the plus symbol to the left of Services and Applications.
  4. Select Services listed under Services and Applications.

    Click the image to open in full size.
  5. Double click iPod Service in the right hand panel.
  6. Click the Stop button under the General tab and leave the iPod Service Properties window open.
  7. Connect your iPod and wait until it is visible in My Computer/Computer.
  8. Click the Start button in the iPod Service Properties window.
  9. Open iTunes.

hold menu and the center button for 20 seconds until it resets

force the ipod into disc mode, reset it then when the apple logo appears hold the middle button and the play button, (assuming you have a 5th gen ipod, if not look on the apple website they will tell you how to do it on older ones) then plug it in and if its a hardware problem (ipod, cable) it wont connect, if its a software problem (something on the computer) it will say connected but wont show up.

yeah, i tried it on my friend's MAC and it did about the same thing... didnt show up, but a USB drive worked in the same slot
