Skin Your IPod COMPLETELY!

Because my ipod is already modded, i will be using my brothers....
What i will be doing is making the appearance of the ipod completely different with this theme.

ENABLE DISK USE ON YOUR IPOD OTHERWISE THIS WILL NOT WORK

What you will need:
IPod
IPodwizard v1.2 (download from iPodWizard.net - Home)
and a Theme for your IPod.



First, you will need to make sure that your IPod is connected and that Disk Mode is enabled. To do this, when you are updating your iPod in Itunes there will be an option to enable disk mode. DO it OTHERWISE THIS WILL NOT WORK!

After you enable Disk Use it should show up as the name of the ipod. Like so.




Next, in the dropdown menu that says updater. Click IPod. Like shown below. Next to that, a button will show up saying load IPod firmware. Hit that as well. THEN DONT TOUCH THE COMPUTER!!!!




After the Firmware loads. go extract the pictures from the .rar or .zip file that the theme came in. (If the Theme is not accustomed to your Firmware. Download an IPod Theme converter from http://rapidshare.com/files/16638957...1.2.1.zip.html)


USE THESE FOLLOWING STEPS ONLY IF YOU HAVE DOWNLOADED A THEME NOT FORMATTED TO YOU IPOD FIRMWARE!




After you have downloaded the theme converter. Extract it to your desktop. It is the .bat file called converter fw 1.1.1 to 1.2.1 .After that. Drag the Converter into the folder with all the .bmp pictures in it. Double click the converter and this should show up. Like so... Keep in mind how it says press any key to continue. just keep pressing any key until it is done. Then take the pictures from the Needed Files Folder enclosed where you extracted the converter from. and copy them into the new folder entitled "new-pics".Then follow to the next step.



Now here comes the annoying part...

Go into the themes tab on IPodwizard and hit "Load Theme Graphics" and a search bar will show up. Find the folder with your either converted (For people who did the optional step 3; or the non converted files where you just extracted them. I will be using the converted folder because my brothers IPod is FW1.2 and the theme is for FW1.1)
So as i was saying, a search bar will show up. find the folder like shown.



After you find the folder and hit the ok button. it will tell you how many valid pictures were found . In my case. IPodwizard found 119.



Now that you have valid pictures. Hit the Make theme button. and it will ask you where to save the .IPW theme. SAVE IT TO YOUR DESKTOP!!!! and you can save it to whatever you want. ill be saving it as familyguytheme.ipw



you will then get a message saying "Successfully Wrote Theme File!" Hit OK.


NOW here are the final steps. Hit the "Load Theme" Button and find your theme on the desktop.



Yet again it will say "Successfully Loaded Theme File!" and yet again hit the OK button.

Now the moment you have all been waiting for.....
THE FINAL STEP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK. so it may seem that after you loaded the theme. absolutely nothing happened. well. you are wrong. The last thing you need to do is hit the write button FIRST. It will ask you. "Do you want to write the modified Firmware to your Ipod?" Click the YES button. NOW.Keep IPODWIZARD RUNNING AS THE PRIMARY PROGRAM! and dont touch anything until its done. Like shown below. NOTE: IPodwizard will automatically write the firmware just keep it running as the primary program and dont touch anything until its done.



Now that it is done writing the firmware this message will show up. You will need to eject it. You can do this through iTunes or IPW (IPodwizard) It doesnt matter which way so its really up to you....

ALSO NOTE THAT AFTER ABOUT 5 MINTUES THE THEME I USED GOD MESSED UP WHILE TRANSFERING BECAUSE IT IS MISSING A GRAPHIC. DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS THEME. JUST USE A DIFFERENT THEME WITH THE SAME STEPS.

I think you can mod any (old + itouch) Ipod.

i wasnt sure if it would work. cause the new nanos havent been cracked so i didnt know if you had to crack it to add the theme

yeah, they havent cracked the encryption or whatever. im not exactly sure how it works. but a team of highly certified flying monkeys is looking into cracking it. so it might come soon enough.

when i hit load iPod firmware it says "Error accessing Ipod hard drive parameters" how or can I fix this? Im using a 1 GB Nano. The first one to come out. Thanks!

are you using an admin account on your computer? that is needed

is your ipod in disk mode?
hold menu and the middle button (for about 10 seconds), then when it is starting up, hold the middle button and play. it should say you are in disk mode, then plug it in.

what generation of ipod do you have?
