awesome thanks dude, one problem thought- i saw several other people had the same problem and it hasnt exactly been answered yet. When you click on "Quit Podzilla", it either freezes or doesnt quit. Also when you plug it into the computer, the computer does not recognize the ipod, and the ipod refuses to turn off.

Is there a fix to this yet, or is there any other version of linux that can be used for the first gen ipod nano's?

Any help would be greatly appreciated because i would love to use linux just to show it off to other people ^^

BTW when i used the movie converting program, it worked fine and all no complaints there, however i noticed that the file went from 22mb to 183mb. Any idea why or how to make it, or keep it smaller?

It's because the compression has probably been removed while converting, and extra junk has been added.

You could use some other converter if this is not the problem, like Videora Ipod Converter.

Also, the installers for iPod Linux on Nano's are not supported, so don't come to Unknowing crying, you are doing this at your own risk

It should work in theory, but if it doesn't, do a restore in Itunes.

oh it does work, it just doesnt turn off. Im not complaining i was just wondering if there was a fix or some other version that can turn it off

ok wat r the odds of me screwing up my ipod? this is my first time reading it and i am noob at ipod modding this is the first tut ive seen for modding an ipod.

First, hold The MENU and center button at the same time. When the iPod shuts down and comes back up with the Apple logo, hold center and rewind. If some unusual text comes up, that's good. Now plug this into your computer and restore it with iTunes. This will get rid of all your music and iPodLinux.

is there any1 that can help me with my ipod i put linux into and cant get it out and it wont let me go back 2 normal mode i went to the power thing and quit podzilla i only waited 5 mins do i have 2 wait longer? i also tried the hold center and rewind and it just takes me 2 ipod diagnostic and when i pug it into my ipod it does not show up on my computer can any1 help me with this im so clueless

nvm i found out how 2 after u restart it and c apple icon thing on the ipod hold centar button and play and it will put it in disk mode

quick question..if i already have rockbox and the default ipod firmware installed (dual boot) will this still work? i assume it would because it uses different buttons to start up..but jus out of curiosity are there any conflictions between the 3?...will they all still work? and then would it be called a "triboot"?

when i boot the linux part it says no ipod connected. when u say disk mode u mean so itunes can actually c it or whe it just charging? caz the linuxipod wont c it some1 help

Disk mode

Before placing the iPod into disk mode, you should verify that it is charged.
Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Set it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons for at least 6 seconds until the Apple logo appears.
When the Apple logo appears, release the Menu and Select buttons and immediately press and hold the Select and the Play/Pause buttons until the Disk Mode screen appears.

As for the people that cant turn it off. you hit quit pod zilla then you can either turn it off boot into apple and go to sleep OR. (not sure if this button combo works in podzilla but its worth a try.

Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)

and it should turn off/go to sleep
