Arrow how to make a homemade xsata "xboxPlayer"

this tutorial is intended to teach you how to take a part your xbox 360 hdd and hook it up to your computer this is a very simple tutorial but you still need some computer knowledge inorder to complete it correctly i made it so xboxplayer could make an xsata

TAKING APART YOUR XBOX 360 HDD WILL VOID ANY WARRENTY ON IT EVEN THOUGH I DONT EVEN THINK THEIR IS A WARRENTY ON IT

things you need

torx t6 and t10 --- sold at any hardware store or eletronic's store

Xbox 360 HDD --- either came with your 360 or you bought it from a store

SATA cable --- found at bestbuy and radio shack

SATA power cable ---- i wasnt able to find one at any major store umm
try online or your computer may have extra inside
it like mine did

A computer -- you will have to open it

Xplorer360 --- if possible download the newest version

Lets get started

Your gonna need to unscrew all 4 of the outer screws on your hdd show in this picture
Click the image to open in full size.

then take it off and take these next 4 screws off

Click the image to open in full size.

then you will be able to unhook your hdd from the connector
Click the image to open in full size.
then slide your hdd out of its case

plug in your sata cable in one of your computers hubs then plug the other side in your 360 hdd
Click the image to open in full size.
then plug your sata power cable in to your hdd and your computer
Click the image to open in full size.
then boot up your computer and open xplorer 360
Click the image to open in full size.
then click drive then open the hardrive or memcard
Click the image to open in full size.
then your have just made a homemade xsata and edit or add or wht ever you want to your hdd
Click the image to open in full size.

Quite simple...but effective. It just so happens that I was looking for this today.

Edit: You know I was just thinking...I wonder how the 360 would react to another DVD drive being hooked into the HDD port...

If you dont start up your computer with it hooked up then you need to use device manager to find the HDD.

Yes, and there is something out that you can install your own Western digital but it takes the print of an already made HD so if you log on with both drives into live you will get banned and it will only use 20GB of the HD so its almost useless

No, you would need a chip to convert the sata signals to usb signals.
This might work USB 2.0 to IDE/SATA Serial ATA Hard Drive Adapter Cable Kit
