I need to figure out how to get better quality out of my DVC 170. Before i had to do the re-install, my quality was amazing. it was crystal clear! but now, i capture, then when i click make movie (is the process of making the movie, while its doing it fram by frame called Rendering?) so anyways, i told it it make it Windows Media format in the file-type. and in the Preset i made it High Quality NTSC.

So what do i need to do using the pinnacle software to get better quality, it has to be with the pinnacle software, cuz my cc only works with pinnacle software.

do i need to do something different when im capturing, or when im making the movie (rendering?)

make it avi. that shud help.. show ur capturing settings in the capture tab, including the toggles for brightness/contrast/sharp

well, while its capturing, its capturing it straight to mpeg-2. would changing a setting there help some?

so if it should be capturing into avi, thats a prob right? and how do you even adjust brightness and contrast in pinnacle? Where is crackmatt? he uses pinnacle!

You shouldn't "render" into AVI in pinnacle..........the capture should already have the movie. If you render it that's degrading the raw quality. I believe Pinnacle natively captures in mpeg, but i'm not sure.

In the capture pane there should be options to adjust the different settings for your card (including brightness and contrast)

so i cant sharpen something AFTER its been captured, i have to to it while its being captured, or like, adjust the settings before?

Correct.

(Similar to saying "so i can't convert it to HD after i get the footage?", as it has to be recorded in HD to receive the full resolution).

You can sharpen it afterwards with filters, but it's not the same type of effect at all.

ok, well i fixed it. I captured, rendered it AVI in pinnacle, then took it to Vegas, and Rendered it WMV. Not only was it good quality, it didn't take an hour to upload! GENIUS!!! lol
