| 7S Enthusiast | How to Improve with the Br and Sniper there is a simple drill that one can practice in order to drastically improve there br skillz and sniper/no scope skillz this was taught to me by the pro player yooo mando he is a mlg player for team Fj ne way this is what to do on a canvas version of foundation 1. create a rectangle of boxes from the back wall to the middle for a fighting ring keep it big but not to big big 4 boxes by 3 boxes what ever feels right. 2.make sure all spwn points are inside the rectangle and there is no way out of the rectangle 3.now create a gametype nd change it so that each player as 400 percent health and times 3 overshield....this will make it extremely difficult to kill 4. next make the primary weopon br with infinit ammo and secondary weapon sniper with infinite ammo. 5. now practice 1v1 in the box u will soon notice that u hav improved drastically.. the tip that he gave to me was onle focus on that little red circle in the middle of the screen Last edited by blu; 06-01-2008 at 02:52 PM. |

| Novice | Honestly just use it in a game(not ranked)practice in rumble or social it would be alot better since you actually have people trying to avoid dieing.and for the no scope if you look at your sniper you will see the night vision just look at that and you will see a little aimer in it(look closely)just line that up qith the head |

| Novice | Re: How to Improve with the Br and Sniper I play with my sensitivity at 10. It is the best and the quickest. For me at least. |

| Member | Re: How to Improve with the Br and Sniper If you play lots of MLG customs you will start to get good with the BR. Also don't play with people you know you are better than, play with people that are your skill or better. |

| Novice | First off, I would decide on one thing that is very important. But before you read on, I just want you to forget everything you read and everything anyone told you. Honestly answer the question: Do you find yourself steadier on low or high sensitivity. This is the most important analysis anyone can do. To test out, I usually pick up a controller that is turned off, and hold extended at chest level. Place your thumb on the analog stick, and move it in a circular way, first little circles and the big circles. Try it with your eyes open, and then your eyes closed. If you can handle it very smoothly and you don't feel any shakiness, then you should step up to high sensitivity. However, if you find your thumb to be off and shaky, then that is only natural to the internals of your thumb and you should play on low sensitivity. If You Can Handle High Sensitivity: If you can handle high sensitivity normally, then you will be a more aggressive player by nature. This is simply because you are able to adjust your line of sight very quickly and [hopefully] accurately in a faster time than most other players. However, if you cannot do this accurately, then you need to fine-tune your aim and sensitivity. Go into a custom match, and set your sensitivity to a setting that feels right, and move your stick in a circular fashion like you did during the test. Is your reticule and camera moving evenly on screen? If it is, then leave your sensitivity alone. If not, put it up or down one and try again until if feels comfortable. Now, go to a map like Construct or The Pit in Forge and create a map, and place as many explosive objects as you can in a random but pathed fashion (think obstacle course). Once done, enter this map in a Custom Game, and start shooting at them. While doing this, keep in mind only two things: speed and accuracy. It should take you only 1 or 2 shots to destroy the object and around 1-3 seconds between each object. Make sure that you are practicing movement while you are doing this to simulate a real environment. Once you feel extremely comfortable with this, head on to either a MLG or BR-Start Custom Game of Matchmaking Playlist. Practice like you did before, but this time to emphasize your movement and try to stay alive as long as you can in intense battles. Make sure you are killing enemies accurately (4-6 shots) and quickly. You also need to become used to them jumping and strafing. If you can handle the stick nicely and fluidly, you should be able to consistently keep up with a jump or a strafe while out-BRing the opponents. As you practice this, try to incorporate a violent/aggressive "twitch" to your third or fourth shot. This seems to recalibrate your aiming (for multi-kills) and generalize the spread to ensure a four-shot kill. This is a more advanced tactic, but it is excellent to use on high sensitivity. If You Can Handle Low Sensitivity: Players on low sensitivity will not need to practice precision as much as the high sensitivity players. This is because you will be able to press the analog stick at relatively any strength and force while still be able to maintain general precision. Higher precision on low sensitivity will come with experience. What the low sensitivity player must work on is almost exclusively complex movement. In order to out-BR an aggressive (high sensitivity) player, who has an advantage of being able to use twitching and quicker precision, you will need to develop a way to throw off the opponent's precision to ensure you have the 0.13 seconds to make up your damage loss. There is four key functions that a low sensitivity player must practice to effectively build consistency against other players, including aggressive players:
Jumping, by standard competitive definition, is the dimensional inversion of a strafe that makes the player elevate his head level to avoid the damage being done to him. Think of it as a strafe, but flipping it so it is an up-to-down motion. Simple jumping, however, will not give you too much of an edge. Jumping is effective when it is combined with strafing to set-up an extremely potential way to avoid enemy bullets. For example, a medium-distance quick strafe to the left, followed by a quick-cut jump to the right, and then repeated but at longer distance, is a technique that is very hard to counter. This will throw off even the most precise of aims when done fluidly. To both Strafing and Jumping, a presence of randomness while still maintaining patterns is very important. By this, I mean that you have to stretch your distance covered while strafing, but make sure you still do a pattern so you can effectively and comfortably out-BR the opponent. The next important tactic to practice is the toughest to learn and get used to. While you are strafing, you need to be able to effectively shoot while moving in all sorts of directions. This can be difficult, especially when you are doing advanced strafing. Why? Because you are constantly changing your line of sight, so you must have your aim maintain speed and accuracy with your trigger. Think of it this way: the opponent's head is black dot, and the rest of you screen except your aiming reticule is white. As you jump to the right, you must maintain your aim on his head by doing the exact opposite of going up-right -you must push your analog down-left to keep the aim on his head. This is hard and you need experience to have the timing of a jump and a strafe down perfectly. Once a low sensitivity player masters this to a near-perfect degree, a strafe can be extremely deadly. The fourth element is important to both low sensitivity and high sensitivity players, but is extremely useful to low sensitivity because they cannot shoot as aggressively as high sensitivity players. The fourth function to using your environment. The most typical example is "grenade shots", or simply nading. This is a technique as simple as throwing a grenade of the wall before encountering a BR Battle to weaken your opponent to give you a 2-3 shot edge in the battle. This can only be practiced by experience. As you play Halo more, you will be able to better estimate the exact spot on the wall that you must throw a grenade at to be able to have the grenade land in the right zone. Not only grenades can be used in this tactic. Using any explosive items, such as fusion coils, is very effective. When you are in a BR Battle that is against a tough player, use your peripheral vision to scan your surroundings for explosive items. Shoot at the item, and if your enemy is near it, he will be weakened by the splash damage, resulting in a 2-3 shot lead -sometimes even an instant kill. The only way to practice these techniques is by real situations in matchmaking and custom matches, and using an invincible guest. However, the tactics covered will prove to be very useful for the low sensitivity player, especially when pitted against an aggressive BR. Strafing, Jumping, Accuracy, and Nading are all very powerful tools in competitive Halo. AIM HERE Also, when you aim at your opponent, aim at the bottom of the black neck guard (only on the chief) because as you shoot the BR it has recoil and moves up slightly, so as you shoot below the neck your BR will move up and usually four shot your opponent, this will always be satisfying. good luck and i hope this post helped you. (Not all written by me.) good luck and have fun. |

| 7S Enthusiast | Re: How to Improve with the Br and Sniper I found that practicing on the map PhuRioN made for sniping really helped me improve (although i still have a loooong way to go). its pretty much just an empty foundry with modified spawn points and the back and blocked off. if anyone wants it ill put it on my file share. |
