Halo 3 Skulls Megapost

Gold Skulls

Iron:

Mission: Sierra 117
Effect: "Death carries a heavy price..." -- Instead of only losing 25 points when you die, you lose 75. You also restart from the beginning instead of any checkpoint.

After Freeing Johnson and killing all the covenent that come in the phantoms, walk to the Pelican that comes to pick you up. Face the cargo bay but instead of hopping in, turn left and follow the path. Once you hit the wall jump up to your right, eventually reaching a walkway. Walk all the way to the end, take a left, then a right, then at the end of this little bit to the right is a dark corner. Turn your light on and you should see the skull. If you cant see it you're probably standing on it.

Black Eye:
Click the image to open in full size.

Mission: Crow's Nest
Effect: "Bash your way to better health." -- Your shield will not auto-recharge anymore, you have to kill an enemy with a melee attack.

From the start without moving anything you can see a massive pipe above you. Walk up the stairs then up the next set, turn to your left and jump up on the shelf unit. From there jump to the red cross beam then up onto the pipe, from there just walk to the end and walk over the Black Eye skull to claim it. You don't have to pick this one up it does it automatically.

Tough Luck:

Mission: Tsavo Highway
Effect: "Your foes always make every saving throw." -- Enemies seem to avoid rockets and grenades easily.

After you have to deactivate a shield that's blocking the road, you will exit onto a bridge and a giant covenant ship flies overhead. You need to get out of your jeep if you are in one and go to the right side of the bridge, then go underneath and you will see bridge supports jutting out into the canyon. Jump onto the one farthest to the left and go to the edge and turn left and you'll see a small jut out of the cliff with the skull on it.

Catch:
Click the image to open in full size.

Mission: The Storm
Effect: "Pull pin. Count to three. Throw." -- Every NPC carries two grenades and throws them often.

You can get this by performing a grenade jump off a warthog, or grab a ghost and go back to the ramp from which you first came out, using the ghost to push a big square crate back over to the front of the silo pod that the skull is on top of, then use the box as a place to jump from.

Fog:
Click the image to open in full size.

Mission: Floodgate
Effect: "You’ll miss those eyes in the back of your head." -- Your motion sensor disappears.

As you are walking down from the anti-air gun you destroyed in the previous mission, you encounter a ramp (next to a missile launcher). Around this ramp, you hit a checkpoint. At this point, you should also hear a marine yelling, “There! Over There!”. Look up and to the right, directly at the roof of the building next to the missle launcher. There is a single flood form (not to be mistaken with the two other flood forms jumping in front of you) which is holding the skull. Kill him before he jumps, and he will drop the skull down to the ground where you can retrieve it. Too early, and the skull will get stuck on the roof though, so just time it carefully.

Famine:

Click the image to open in full size. Mission: The Ark
Effect: "Trust us. Bring a magazine." -- Dropped weapons will have very little ammo compared to normal.

When you first go into the valley to the right after the wrecked phantom, look to your left where you will see a huge boulder. Use a ghost and get to the side of the boulder that is closest to the bridge overhead. It is easy to pilot the ghost up the side of the wall using the thrust. To get the skull, pilot 2 ghosts up the wall to the top of the bridge and stack them one on top of another next to the beam where the skull is placed. Simply jump from the top of the ghosts towards the skull and land on the beam.

Thunderstorm:
Click the image to open in full size.Mission: The Covenant
Effect: "Field promotions for everyone!" -- Upgrades enemies to their stronger versions.

After you shut down tower 1 and get access to the hornet, fly to tower 2 (the one the arbiter shut down). While walking up the stairs, go to the middle part that connects both and there should be a stair leading up to a platform where the skull is.

Tilt:

Mission: Cortana
Effect: -- Enemies have different body parts that may be resistance to certain bullet types.

About halfway into this level is a big open room. Jump on the little shelves until you get to the top of the level and the skull is waiting for you.

Mythic:

Mission: Halo
Effect: "Coverage under the Covenant health plan." -- Gives a 2x score multiplier for all kills and doubles enemies health.

Follow the normal path till you reach a cave, then hug the right wall until it branches off into a small path, at the end of this path is some rubble and in front is the skull.

Silver Skulls

Blind Skull:
Mission: “Sierra 117″
Effect: You lose your HUD when this skull is turned on. You won’t see your weapons, shield, radar, etc.

The “Blind Skull” is the first of the Silver Skulls in Halo 3, and is located relatively close to the beginning of the mission. After your first encounter with the Gold Armor Brute, Two enemy dropships will appear a bit further down the stream. Go towards the dropship that is furthest away, and stay on the right side of the stream. Continue along the right (towards the cliff edge), and a rock will jut out a bit over the large lake. The Blind Skull is located on this rock.

Grunt Birthday Party Skull
Mission: “Crow's Nest″

Effect: When you get a headshot on an enemy Grunt, they will explode into confetti, and you’ll hear children cheer, “Yay!” in excitement.

This is one of the more fun Silver Skulls in Halo 3. The “Grunt Birthday Party Skull” is located on the second mission, “Crow’s Nest”, just before the area where you team up with the Arbiter (it’s the piping area where you see Drones buzzing in and out of an array of pipes). Just before you jump down the pipe to meet up with the Arbiter, stop at the ledge, and look directly below you. Along the wall that you drop down, there is a small ledge with a green arrow pointing backwards. Jump onto this ledge (rather than all the way down), and go inside this secret room. The skull is in the dead center of the room.

Cowbell Skull
Mission: “The Storm″
Effect: Explosions become much bigger in the game.

The “Cowbell Skull” is found on the level “The Ark”, and marks the third Silver Skull found in the game. It’s fairly far into the level, so it takes a bit of time to find it.
Begin by heading all the way to the part of the level where you battle the Scarab. After defeating it, look in the middle of the desert area which you battled it in for a fairly large structure (it’s the building you see if you are at the bottom of the ramp you are supposed to go up, and turn to look in the opposite direction). Inside of this structure are several Gravity Lifts (shown below). Take one of these for later.
Next, head up the huge ramp, and head inside of the building (the one with the cartographer inside). Pass through a few of the rooms in this building, and you’ll eventually come to a room with a whole lot of Explosive crates. Right after this room is a Staircase/Hallway that leads to the level below. The Skull is located at the top of the room, at the point where you turn on the staircase to head for the next part of the slope. There are four platforms above you, the Skull is on the uppermost of these platforms. Use the Gravity Lift to jump up to it, and there you have it!

I Would Have Been Your Daddy (IWHBYD)
Mission: “The Covenant″
Effect: Unlocks hidden dialogue throughout Halo 3’s campaign.

The Skull is located in the level, “The Covenant”. After defeating the Scarabs, and going inside, get to the location with all 7 Ring Holograms. You must jump through the rings in a specific order. That order is as follows (1 is at the entrance, 7 is at the end):

4 5 6 5 7 6 5 4 1 2 3 2 7 2 (1 3 4 6 7 5 4 6 5 4 5) 3 4

You may only need the ones in parentheses. If not, just jump through all of them.

These rings also produce the notes:
E F# G F# A G F# E B C# D C# A C# B D E G A F# E G F# E F# D E

After jumping through them in this sequence, you will be awarded the “I Would Have Been Your Daddy Skull”. It will be right next to the bridge that brings you over to the Prophet of Truth.
NOTE: YOU MAY NEED TO KILL THE PROPHET OF TRUTH, AND THE FLOOD BEFORE DOING THE RING JUMPS!

Unknown Skull
Mission: “Cortana″
Effect: Same as Blind Skull

The Unknown Skull can be found on the level, “Cortana”, in the room with the 3 generators you must destroy. The skull is on the ceiling of this room (just above the door where you walk in for the first time).
This is not the IWHBYD Skull in Halo 3, and does not unlock any new Gold or Silver Skulls. Its purpose remains unknown.

Halo 3 Terminals

Access one and wait untill the text turns red and go on to the next. When you unlock all seven you will recieve the "Marathon Man" acheivement.

YOu don't get achievements for the silver skulls, they only unlock fun things for the meta-play
Gold skulls are the only ones that unlock achievements

Yo I tried jumping through the circles, no sounds or achievement? I did it after I killed the dude and the flood

Sgt: Terminals are just for the achievement, I don't think they 'unlock' or 'do' anything other than that

silver skulls dont unlock acheivements. look at the video.

hope it helps
