Modding without Logging Off?

Ok, I was playing with a modder named mattchew8000 and he said he was gonna sandbox a map, so i expected him to log off to put it on his harddrive, well anyways, we played the map, and he didnt log off, i dont know if this is a noobish question, but how did he do it? I have a transfer cable, but I want to mod without having to sign off, any suggestion?

Arbitor's friend. A memory card is the trick. Dont let them tell you other wise.

Using a memory card allows you to not have to remove your HDD and restart your 360.
