The same way the ps3 works with Stanford University. You download the program called Cure, which then uses the PS3 power to analyze complex human protein structures. To date over 2 million people worldwide have helped the cause.

Couldn't we do the same thing, but on a smaller scale?
Just asking

Re: Possible RSA-2048

if you want to see a semi understandable ratio for the ammount of time that would take, look at the link in my sig, a smaller encryption was bruteforced before and i made a simple ratio to compare the logic of that

plus, who the eff wants to sacrifice and pay electric bills for that much of 10 billion years?

Re: Possible RSA-2048

You're basing your time and numbers on a simple bruteforce calculation.
I say if you really wanted to build and run a program for people to collectively run to 'crack' the key, the go ahead. However, there are two things to note:
- firstly it would be better to just crack the xex key.
- secondly either way you need a better algorithm.

And while the chances of finding them in a reasonable time period is EXTREMELY slim (aka less than 0.000000001% even on a large-scale find), it still exists that someone could very well stumble upon it.
If you ever did attempt such a feat, you would need a bit more info before blindly cracking it.
