Oh yes yes i know. Modding halo 3 doesn't really fall under the category of developing lol. But the dev kit dose run more codes and software witch would allow the ability to mod. Obviously since well as we all see xenon did.

The whole story about upgrading an xbox 360 to dev was from shadow lag and wasnt true, it was told in fear of MS coming after them. The only way one could 'upgrade' a unit to dev would be to get the NAND and CPU from a Dev, which is basically the cost of a dev.

what does it matter to you? i dont think anyone really knows the real cost a company pays for them unless they know from first hand experience, its not like you are going to get one anyway... but it has been rumored if you have the right hook up, be prepared to pay near a grand for it

While were on the topic of dev kit's, I know you can play live but can you play over LAN (And then use a program that lets you play LAN over the net?) Same question of a custom kernel...

you cant play xbox live, they have their own service that is LIKE Live but isnt, its a separate service called PartnerNet, its Xbox Live but built for developers

why wouldnt it? though it prolly wouldnt be interxboxmodel Lan, itd prolly only be able with other dev kits, but im not sure, only a person who has a dev kit can answer that fully

Actually, I have deeply considered getting one for a while, for general use and to hopefully help out here.
Yes, they can cost a grand but that would be one coming with most of the stuff you would want.
But you can get the bare bones, literally, for $260. Supposedly.
I only know this because I enquired on a site which is very popular related to 360 Dev's and supposedly the place to look for one.
Also, there has been a rise in sales in them, as in more people are selling there Devs now online.

And you would need the software too, which can be hard to get.
I think I am going to need to PM somebody already with a Dev for some more help, but I am really considering getting one as I have already been offered.

Heres a quick question, can you extract the video, then resign it with your ID's and a stock 360's KeyVault instead of a Dev's, then watch the video on a normal xbox?
It would be a different map file, but I would pretty intrigued by how it would react.

I'm not saying its possible, I would just be amused to see random people floating trying to drive fork-lifts....
