Campaign Modding

Whats the status on campaign modding? I've heard from some people you can mod your gun, your equipment and your vehicle, and others say you cant mod any of those. I've also seen a few fake tutorials. If it's possible, can anyone give me some real tutorials on it?

I think you can change your equiped equipment, and weapons but that's about it. Never really tested it out though.

ok, you can mod your gun and your equipment but vehicles you cant...


1. play campaign through to the first checkpoint then save and quit
2. now look for the exact file you just saved
3. transfer it to you computer and open in Johnson and hex editor
4. look for your tag and nearest your tag should be the weapons and equipment you were holding
5. swap for the weapons you want or the equipment you want, rehash and resign
6. once you do that transfer it back to the hard drive and start halo 3
7. press continue solo game and you should have what you want. just for your info this is the only real tut on this subject, just thought you should know!!!

i would make it picture friendly but i dont have the pics yet, i will post a better tutorial in a few weeks that is picture friendly soon.

Ah well that's too bad, I'd love to just go through an entire level in just a Bansee, oh well. Thanks for the tutorial though, if i ever play through the campaign again i'll use it .

dude, if you ever play campaign??? people buy halo 3 for the campaign, and keep playing for the multiplayer... but if you want to know how to mod campaign then you should at least try what you have learnt?

The campaign is dull and boring. I actually deleted my personal file.

Lol i said "again." I think i've played it... 3 times. Once by myself, again with a friend to beat legendary, and then we played through it again because we forgot the skulls and terminals. I'd be more into modding the campaign if the mods could be played co-op, or if i could mod the vehicles. But yeah i guess you're right i might as well try it. My transfer cable hasn't even come in the mail yet though lol .

dull and boring??? sure multiplayer is fun and is way better then the campaign but campaign is he complete foundation which multiplayer is built, sure its the same each time but if you look harder then you will see that the campaign is but a thing of beauty, it has its flaws and can get boring but it is still just as important to halo 3 as multiplayer!

Besides, if i mod myself invincibility equipment and a spartan laser, that'll be fun for, what, 5 minutes tops? Now if i had a Banshee...

banshee lover much? i have tryed but it says that it is corrupt unless that it is some other part of he map, maybe i should try it on halo(final level) and see if it will work with a mongoose, infact i will try that tomorrow. thanks for the appifiny, i owe you one!

Cool lol, hope it works. Oh and btw what hex editor do you use? Do you have a download link or a tutorial?

Edit: Oh and yeah that'd be great if you could make a picture friendly tutorial.

You wouldn't happen to know the offsets that your weapons and equipment and stuff is at, would you?

I doubt they would be static.

Ive tried that exact process before. It doesn't work I've also tried other things like changing the amount of ammo I have in my guns. If you make any changes it kicks you back to the start of the first level.

If the saves truly are a save state(a direct memory dump) its probably protected. So my guess is that there's a checksum or something that will need to be fixed.

Where is the campaign saves anyway? I never even bother with campaign, but i want all the achievements on my other account.
