| BANNED | The Whole Outlook on Map Modding Map modding is possible... in 10000 years on a super computer of bruteforcing the private key. You have a better chance of a lighting bolt hitting a plane inhabited by Bungie employees, it crashes in your yard, exploding and out bursts a titanium suitcase that lands in front of you, and inside is the private key... than cracking it... If people that are mathematicians FOR A CAREER, and theyyy cant crack RSA 1024, let alone 2048, then whats the chance of us lil kiddies pwaying a lil ol video game have? If by some reason we did get the private key (somehow someone hijacked it from them), it would only be able to resign disc Maps because we dont have a LIVE container resigner.... why? its a private key stored at Microsoft... same concept!!! Currently the only way to mod maps is through non stock 360's, which is either a Dev kit, or an xbox that can run unsigned code, and then removeing the sig check in the xex. Modifying the xex for stock 360's use ALSO requires another private key (who woulda thought...) so not very realistic. Now, realisticly, the highest possibility for map modding is for the community to develop a custom kernal (custom dash) that could run unsigned code along with keeping you from accessing Live. This, however, is going to be hard to do also: 1) you have to find a game exploit to install the kernal 2) you have to develop the kernal 3) most likely, Microsoft will be able to fix the exploit, clear the custom kernal, and possibly banning you just by making an update. 4) saying dont go on live then is pointless, you might as well go back to the Donkey Kong exploit. EDIT: Here's a lil brute forcing fact: in '97 (I think), someone cracked a 40ish bit (I think) RSA encryption by bruteforce with about 120ish compies it took 3.5 hours 40 bit encryptions are about 5 digits long 2048 encryptions are about 517 digits long lets make a simple ratio Be4 : 3.5 Ae516 : x 3.5/Be4 = x/Ae516 (3.5 * Ae516)/Be4 = x x = (3.5 * Ae512)/B the 2048 is a nice simple number and so is the 40 bit, ( A and B can be any random value), so with these simple numbers, if you look at x =, that is how many hours it would take to have the same results now try adding in different digits and not nice and even numbers, thats what it is like... and adding computers wouldnt do much, maybe adding a few 1000 compies would maybe only take off a digit or two but thats it Last edited by DJ Shepherd; 08-27-2008 at 07:23 PM. |

| 7S Enthusiast | I believe that one day we will .map mod,but not how everyone will think,I will let you think... |

| 7S Enthusiast | dude i just read on another thread that THERE IS A .MAP RESIGNER but its not released... if someone else did it then we can do it. If that person would give the slightest info on how he did it then we are alot closer, ALSO like the con resigner it WILL eventually get released. But idk no1 has confirmed to be that there is a .map resigner |

| Junior Member | Does the king kong exploit allow you to run unsigned code? |

| Guest | The King Kong Shader exploit allows you to run linux with a special chipset. |

| BANNED | No need, I have a Dev kit xex (i think, whatever it is that I got from HS) and I'll upload it.... I so was going to upload it today, but i forgot my flash drive that it was on today, but yeah, ill upload one that has the sig check removed oh and no, there isnt a map resigner, im looking at all these threads on here and theyre all "how do we make one?" never "i have one," there is no map resigner, prolly never will be so shush-shush-shush Last edited by DJ Shepherd; 07-21-2008 at 09:58 AM. |

| Member | The xex penguin posted can be obtained by anyone who can rip halo 3. A debug xex means that it will run on non retail hardware, and can be made by converting a retail xex and its libraries. Although any xex being posted is both illegal and useless to most people unless it is unmodded, in which case they already have it. |

| 7S Enthusiast | like its been said theres no .map resigner. how close in that custom kernel? I'm not very educated on this but couldn't we just use Linux (probably not but I'm just guessing) we would most likely have to strip it down and rebuild the whole dash up again, no? (please don't flame me I'm just trying to contribute to this thread with my ideas). |

| BANNED | Its not so much as the actual building of the kernal, its keeping it on there without having it deleted frequently by MS and fixing the game that the exploit is on through updates Last edited by DJ Shepherd; 07-23-2008 at 01:17 PM. |

| Member | That's funny, that's basically the exact same thing I told you when you thought you could crack the private key with only the public key from a CON... |

| 7S Enthusiast | ok, so why hasn't the king kong exploit been patched for loading up Linux to you xbox360 (i think its a boot disc?)? or is it because you use the older version of the game and write the ISO to a disc, then boot Linux?:confused1: |

| BANNED | it has been patched, patched a LOOOONNNNGGG time ago... as in, in the newer updates, the exploit is fixed, of course in the older kernals its not... because its not programmed into it Last edited by DJ Shepherd; 07-25-2008 at 11:32 AM. |
