The thing that I've been trying to find out is, is there any way to 100% know who the host is? I've been monitoring my Commview in a lot of Halo games. First, you must be in the party with the people whom you wish to find host from. Then you must clear all latest IP's (right click). The first IP that pops up should be the host UNLESS you are the host. A trend I noticed: When you are host, the first person on the list should have a direction of OUT. When they are host, then it should be IN. You should clear a bunch of times in a row. If the same person keeps appearing first, then they are most likely host. If different people come up first, then you are. These trends have not made me 100% my theories and I will do more research tomorrow. Any contributions to this question/theory would be greatly appreciated.

How many more packets should there be from the host compared to others?

| ... you barely know anything about networking... there really isnt a constant rate, and it varies when you speak cause youre send voice information to your team... telling who is host should be noticeable... Last edited by DJ Shepherd; 07-03-2008 at 03:42 AM. | ||||||

| it depends on when you start monitoring because everyone probably has a different amount of packets coming in and out take for instance you join this persons party and your monitoring packets, then another person joins the party who is also monitoring the packets. its not going to be the same input and output. also if you refesh at different times it might not be the same packets as the other person. but as dj said have everyone in the party talk and it should be appearant who the host is. the most packets going in and out is going to be the person whose host. but that depends if youve refreshed your program in a while. if i helped at all remember to use the thanks button | ||||||

I have my 360 connected wirelessly to my gateway, which my computer is also connected wirelessly to. If anyone here can explain to me how to get IP's from my Halo 3 party to show up into Commview, that would be great.

| uh kid... i said that to the person who posted right above me, all he said was he bridged wireless and he saw packets through cain and commview... what was discussed throughout the whole topic, he just repeated what we said millions of times, hence the "pointless post" | ||||||
