Router Bridging - Cain & Abel + Zone Alarm Tutorial by Krafty Credits to Headshots & DJ Shepherd READ BEFORE POSTING! Alright, I'm only going to say this once. Se7ensins is a cheating site, like it or not. If you are not satisfied/amused/whatever, by the release of this tutorial, then get out. We don't need your speech on how Halo 3 is ruined, why its ruined, blah blah blah. IF YOU DO DECIDE TO IGNORE THIS WARNING, YOUR IGNORANCE MAY RESULT YOU IN AN INFRACTION AND/OR SUSPENSION. This is the way to bridge, but is not guaranteed to work on all machines. Getting started: Zone Alarm (Premium Only) Cain & Abel (Mirror 1,Mirror 2) A Router with at least 2 Ethernet connections A modem with DSL/Cable/T1+ Connection Xbox Live + Gold Account (A-dur) Patience (If you dont have this ready, leave the topic. Now.) 3 Ethernet Cables (To Modem, Xbox, and PC/Mac) Xbox 360, Some TV, Friends (Sold Separately, durka durka) Mac Users (INTEL-ONLY!): VMware (Premium Only) Windows XP (Premium Only) At least 1 Ethernet Port For VMware: When you have installed XP and everything, make sure you go to Settings ![]() Click on Network ![]() Change it to Connect Directly To The Physical Network (Bridged) ![]() Setting Up Your Router Bridge: Basically the same concept as Halo 2; You have 3 ethernet cords - 1. From your Router to your Modem (Should be obvious) 2. From 1 LAN part to Xbox 360 3. From Another LAN port to your PC/MAC ICS Bridging will come later, but that should also be the same concept. Now for the tutorial (YAY!)..... ....but first read (aww) this: Note: Make sure you follow the tutorial as written. The picture images are there to guide you, but IS NOT THE EXACT REPLICA OF WHAT YOU SHOULD SEE. In other words, pay attention more to the words than the images. If it doesnt work, start over. I will give some troubleshooting tips at the end, but make sure you give an attempt to everything before asking questions. All these screenshots we're taken in VMware on my MacBook running XP. Some screenshots are mixed, when I get another chance to do this, I can fix it. But it should be straightforward for now. And just for your sake, TEST THIS IN SOCIAL FIRST! Alright: 1. Open Cain & Abel. You should see two tabs (one on top and one on bottom). Click the Sniffer tab and on the bottom, make sure your on the Host tab: ![]() 2. Now, on the icon bar, click on the Sniffer button to start it. Its located on the far left in between the folder and the biochemical (APR) buttons: ![]() 3. Now, Right-Click (Mac Users: CTRL+Click), and go to Scan MAC Addresses: ![]() 4. A pop-up window should appear, with All hosts in my Subnet already checked. If not, select it, and press "OK": ![]() 5. It should only take a few seconds, if longer, see troubleshooting at the bottom of the tutorial: ![]() 6. Now, you should see a list of IPs. NOTE: THEY MAY NOT BE THE SAME AS YOURS. But what you should see is at least; The brand/company name of your router, Microsoft CORP (More may be listed). As for Apple, people running VMware do not need to worry about it. Your ROUTER and XBOX 360 (Microsoft Corp.) are the only ones you need to focus on: ![]() 6. Now, on the bottom tabs, click on the APR tab: ![]() 7. Now, pay attention and make sure you get this right. Right-Click (Mac Users: CTRL+Click) on the UPPER columns (Where the mouse is in the previous photo): ![]() 8. Now, this pop up below should appear. ON YOUR LEFT, CHOOSE THE IP OF YOUR ROUTER. ON YOUR RIGHT, CHOOSE THE IP OF YOUR XBOX 360 ![]() 9. After that, press ok, now it should look similar to this: ![]() 10. Now, after you've done that, look where the mouse is in the previous image. Click that icon (APR, The one with the Biochemical symbol): ![]() 11. On the bottom column, IP's should start showing up. Mainly, your friends (or the people in your party) IP's should appear. Check with them and make sure you can see them. OVER TO ZONE ALARM 1. This part is also similar to Halo 2, but instead, you are going to add 2 IP RANGES instead. So read carefully. Go to your Firewall, and then click on the ZONES tab (Make sure you only have your NETWORK listed, Delete everything else. And make sure your Network is under TRUSTED): ![]() 2. On the bottom, go to Add -> IP RANGE: ![]() 3. The 2 IP RANGES your going to add under TRUSTED are: 65.59.234.0 - 65.59.234.255 65.55.42.0 - 65.55.42.225 ![]() 4. Now you should have: ![]() 5. Now, you can add your friends IP's: ![]() 6. Put whatever name you want, make sure its under trusted: ![]() 7. When your done, you should have something like this: ![]() 8. Now, Click on the MAIN tab, and save your changes: ![]() 9. Now, your going to have to pay attention to both your TV screen and your Cain. Make sure you have the routing column (or where it says "Half/Full Routing" visable) Make sure your firewall is on Med (Leave the trusted to Med/Off): ![]() 10. Now your ready. Have your friend your forcing host to make a party. Join his party, raise your firewall to High and have him start the game: ![]() 11. Pay attention to your TV screen, but have PATIENCE as it could take a while to find a game. When you finally do get a game, and people start joining (the yellow boxes start to fill up), get your firewall tab and cain ready. When it gets to "CONFIGURING GAME" or something: Wait 1-2 seconds, and then LOWER YOUR FIREWALL TO MED. ![]() 12.Now, check your Cain: ![]() As soon as your lower your Firewall, IP's should be pouring in. Once they start FULL ROUTING, RAISE YOUR FIREWALL TO HIGH: ![]() If done correctly, your friend should have host in the game. It sounds a bit complicated, if theres an easier way we'll notify. And there you have it. Troubleshooting: Krafty invented another cheezburger? No. I got to the boxes, and lowered my firewall, but when I raised it, it kicked us back? Either you did it too early, IP's weren't full-routing, or just wasnt your luck. All these possible games yet I can barely join any? Like I said, it may take some time. If it stays at 0 havet he host restart the game. H4L0 3 b ru1n3d! Th4nkz @ l0t Kr4fty! Your welcome. Sell it and go buy another game. When I sniff for IP's, it takes forever. Stop the search, and go to the Nav bar and click on Configure: ![]() Make sure you select your Ethernet Port card: ![]() After you've done that, press Apply: ![]() Then press OK: ![]() Now try scanning again. I'm not getting any IP's when I click the ARP button? Remove all the IP's from the top column: ![]() And from the Host tab: ![]() Go to step 1, and try again. More to come later...
