| Novice | Help Getting Direct Connect (Im sure its an easy question) I relize this map be in the wrong section, but I don't know where else and I'm new. The Question is: Ok, so I need to get my xbox directly connected to my computer (For LIVE) so when I go to commview or C&A it will show my router IP, bungie's, and anyone else I am playing with. Im using a default ethernet cord for LIVE, and it works fine into my xbox, but here is my real question(s). The yellow ethernet cord that is going into my computer, does that direct connect me? If answer is yes, see Question One below. If answer is false, see Question Two. Question One: If the above is true, please read question below. So that direct connects me huh? (This might not be true) - Ok, so where do I plug in my cord for the XBox? Into my router? My mouth? My butt? Some other magical port? ___________________________________________ Question Two: If above is false, please read question below. So that doesn't direct connect me huh? (This might not be true) - Ok, so what does? Is it that long white wire that goes into a cable outlet (into the wall)? And not into my computer? Or mouth? Or butt? Or some other magical port? Well well, Mr(s). Smartguy (I feel like being P.C. today) So this is true? Where do I plug my cord into? My router? My mouth? My butt? Some oth..(Ok enough of that )___________________________________________ Please answer the question in the following format: Question Number: Question Answer: Other: How awesome and well together this post was: ___________________________________________ Example: Question Number: 2 Question Answer: Your butt, you see, because your butt is so big, IT FITS PERFECTLY Other: Make sure it doesn't go in too deep, it make cause bleeding, and in return causing the H.I.V. virus, and furthermore leading to A.I.D.S. How awesome and well together this post was: Totally friggin awesome and professional and so sick nasty that I orgasm'd from its greatness. ___________________________________________ If you don't answer like that, you make very well crush my hopes and dreams, and my evil bunnies may swiftly hop through the night to then slit your throat while you are jacking-off at one in the morning. AND WE DON'T WANT THAT, DO WE BILLY? ___________________________________________ Thanks for answering, I apprectiate your support! /save post of greatness Last edited by GamerX; 06-03-2008 at 07:59 PM. |

| Novice | Modem---------Router--------Computer~~~~Xbox360 ----- = normal ethernet cable ~~~~ = crossover ethernet cable (also known as xbox system link cable) Connect a crossover cable between the back of your xbox and a port in the rear of your computer. Connect a traditional ethernet cable between a second port in your computer and an open slot in your router. Enable Internet connection sharing (ICS) and set a static IP for your TCP/IP Protocol. (192.168.0.25 with normal subnet mask). Or just look at I Krafty I's sticky for ICS bridging... lol Since apparently I can't edit posts... You do not need a crossover cable for an xbox 360. |

| Novice | Yes, you DO need a crossover cable to connect to xbox live through your computer (ICS). A simple ethernet cable will not work. |

| Novice | Uhh.. I'm pretty sure it's a straight-through because you must buy a system-link cable (crossover) to connect 2 xboxes together. Plus I've used the one it comes with for other things that require a normal, straight-through cable. System-link ethernet cables are like $15 and they are exactly like crossover cables. |
