host ban question

Ok so Im assuming everyone here or at least that responds knows enough about this to help me out. I've not really had the best internet for the last 2 years - combination of slow speeds and stupid sisters constantly on photobucket wasting bandwidth lol...

Anyways I absolutely never get host or at least its been over a year and a half that I can remember so as you can see I haven't had it recently at all...

I now ask because I'm thinking of upgrading my internet to a much faster connection, but I'm wondering if this will affect my "host ban" at all... Like ideally remove it? It makes sense to me but that doesn't mean it will work...

I've messaged Shishka the same question but I haven't received any yes or no...

Any one else go through the same process and had success? or failure? I really want host back lol

Re: host ban question

I remember reading in the bungie forums that a bad internet connection is like host ban from standbying. So idk if that would really work because host ban is based on your console and acc. But maybe it might but my guess would be no.
But you might not even be host ban if you have just had bad internet. Go into a game of dubs with someone host banned and see if you get a match.

No, switching ISPs won't get rid of your problem. You need a new console all together. Just switch consoles with one of your friends if you must.

1) Photoshop, unless updating or connecting to the internet will not slow down your machine unless the computer it is on is bogged down by processes which slows down internet traffic to and from the machine.

2) Updating your internet will in fact increase your speeds and will in fact most likely help you get host a bit more often, but host is merely determained by bandwidth and speed and typically a connection with good upload speeds has a good shot at getting host (and with a large amount of up you get more down, its an interesting topic to talk about if your a networking guy)

3) And about host banning, host banning is a process that bungie does that links gamertags to ip address and so on. Now, you are not host banned unless you have cheated with host and if you have not cheated to get host or cheated with host, you are not host banned. If you are host banned and you change your ISP and your gamertag, you will not be host banned. Now, I am not sure about changing your gamertag name because they may have an account number assigned to each XBL account and they may still host ban you even if you are on a different ISP.

Hope that helped you out a bit.

PS: apparently your console is ip host banned if you host banned on XBL (twisted) and in that case you would have to modify the hardware of the xbox to get back online along with all the other stuff I stated. What a pain in the butt...

This one is wrong.
1) You can get host banned without cheating at all
2) Host ban is also linked to your xbox so changing your acc does nothing

3) The only way to get unhost ban is new xbox and new acc(other than the one that your console got host ban on)

Trust me i have tried A LOT of ways and im pretty sure about this

Fooky, again, who have no clue to what you are talking about.

I was hostbanned on my main, now I am not.

I never cheated on another account, which is on a different console, and it is hostbanned.

Inheriting someones IP can also give you a hostban, especally if you live in a region of alot of Halo players.

Are you serious right now. i DO know what i am talking about on this one ask fox ask diitryyyyyy especially and others host ban is acc based and console based. if you get host ban on an acc, then that acc and console is host ban. you can make another acc and try to standby again but your bridger will still lag out because it is CONSOLE based. i also have borrowed my friends xbox and tried to standby again on an acc that was host ban on a diff xbox. I DIDNT WORK. Y? its ACCOUNT BASED also. so dont tell me i don't know what i am talking about i have experience this and know ok so GTFO

I did not take my time to read what you said, simply because you cannot use grammar or spelling in any sense of the terms.
