Actually reading/playing the modding disc. You wll either have to have a
Samsung Ver. B Drive with the flashed firmware or be able to do the
hotswap trick to play with this disc on XBX Live.
Ripping Halo 2
Programs you will need if you don't already have:
ISO Buster WXRipper
We will start by taking off your computer case (with it turned off and the power cords unplugged) and pulling out the DVD-Rom (unplug the ribbon cable and the power cord)
Next take out the screws holding on the DVD-Rom cover should be four or so.
Next you take the entire cover off, top and bottom. Take the top part and get a knife or flat head screw driver and slowly go around the circle grove around the main sticker as shown in the pic below.
After you cut around the sticker, slowly take off the round disc. It might be a little tough because of the glue but it will come off. Then take the small round disc magnet out and save it for later. See the pic for what it looks like.
After this is done, leave the cover off your computer, and put a DVD movie in the drive. I have used Pearl Harobor Disc 1, Resident Evil, and a few others, any movie around 7.48 GB should work, but for this tutorial I will use Resident evil. (My best results have been with Pearl Harbor Dics 1 though).
After your computer is up and running and the disc is spinning:
Now you want to open up ISO Buster:
Then chiglight the DVD Icon and then click on File---->DVD---->Extract DVD <image>---->User Data (*.tao,*.iso):
A browser window will appear asking where and what you want to call the image. I would creat a folder on your desktop called Raw Dump or something like that. Then type in IMAGE000 but
DO NOT hit save, LEAVE it at this screen.
While it is at that screen, go back to your desktop and open up WX Ripper. Then click on Hotswap and choose stop drive. If done right the disk should stop spinning.
You
DO NOT PRESS THE EJECT BUTTON on the DVD drive. Instead take out the disk from the top and replace it with a very clean Retail Halo 2 Disk and place the magnet back on to hold the disk on. After this is done, open up WX Ripper again and go to hot swap and click spin drive.
Next, the disc shoulds start spinning again, then go back to ISO Buster and you should now hit OK to Save. Now the image is being extracted and it will take anywhere from 1-5 hours it really just varies. Also once you hit around 7% of the extraction you will recieve an error... don't freak out.
Simply click "Replace With Dummy Data" and at the bottom choose "Always apply Selection". After this is done, click the "Selection"' box.
When the rip is at 100%, you will get a message like this:
WE DO NOT WANT TO DELETE THIS FILE. HIT NO
Now tell it to save the file.
After this is done we now must create the layer break file.
Go to the folder where you saved the IMAGE000 file:
Now we have to make a .dvd file. (Layer Break File)
Get your movie out again (the one you made the Raw Dump with) and press the DVD-Rom eject button and put the movie in the drive and let it spin up. Now open up CloneCD and press File---->Read to File.
It will bring up a window like this:
Hit next and you will be brought to a screen that will ask you to make a file name. MAKE SURE you hit browse and go to the directory that you saved your Halo 2 Raw Dump to and call this file IMAGE002.dvd Than hit ok.
Then the progress screen will come up, wait until it hits 30 seconds and then hit abort. And then it will ask you if you want to delete the file, CLICK NO.
Open the folder where you saved the Halo 2 Dump and there should be a bunch of different files in the folder.
No we will delete all the files
EXCEPT (both IMAGE000 files and IMAGE002). You file should no look like this.
No right click on the IMAGE002 file and open it with Notepad. And delete all the information except the first line and under the first line type in IMAGE000.iso and save as IMAGE000.dvd
And finally go back to your Raw Dump (the 7. whatever GB file) and change the file extension to .iso (simply right click on it, hit rename and type in IMAGE000.iso
And thats it, you now have a Halo 2 RAW DUMP.
Patching the Security Sector
Programs you will need:
SSPatcher Program SSPatcher Patch
Open SS Patcher and Go to File---->Open Image and browse for the IMAGE000.ISO file that we have made:
Next make sure the "Default SS PN" is set to F9FA00
If it is not, just highlight the text and type in F9FA00
Now go to Image Tools---->Patch Image.... You will see this box:
Now just make sure the PSN is set to F9FA00, then go to the three dots at the bottom and browse for your Security Sector. After you select it, hit patch now. You will get a pop up warning, but simply click ok to continue.
Now you can move on to injecting the maps.
Injecting the Maps
At this point, the RAW Dump has been completed. If you want to inject your modded maps into the ISO please do the following instructions, but if you just want a clean plaing H2 Disc please skip down to the burning section.
This will teach you have to inject maps into your Halo 2 Raw Dump Iso. I will also show you how to inject the main menu map and the midship WITHOUT having to hex it in.
Programs you will need if you don't already have:

First we will tackle the main menu map and midship. So open up the SSpatcher program and then click the open button and load your ISO file. It should look something like this:
Next hit the Image Browser button in the top right corner:
You should see a screen like this:
Now double click on the maps folder in RIGHT HAND WINDOW and highlight the main menu map:
Then go up to Edit and click "Replace with file" and locate your modded main menu map and then click open and yes to the confirmation window AS LONG AS the file sizes are the same:
After it finishes replacing it will give you a confirmation and thats it. You replace midship the exact same way. This is much easier than hexing it in. After it completes and confirms, close out the SS patcher and open H2 Iso Editor and select "Open ISO", find your ISO and click open:
Now comes the fun part. I prefer to inject my maps one by one becuase it seems to work better for me that way but you can do it however you want.
So with my method you would check the first box "Ascension" and then click "Open" and find your modded version of "Ascension" then click "Open":
This is very IMPORTANT, you must make sure that the file size of the original map (File Size) and the modded one (Should Be) are the Exact (Result) same size, otherwise the map will not work. If they are both the same size then go ahead and click on the "Inject Ascension" button on the right hand side.
After it is done injecting the map, uncheck the box and repeat the previous steps to inject the rest of the maps EXECPT Midship becuase we have already done it in the SS Patcher program.
After all the maps have been injected, close out the Halo 2 ISO Editor and then begin the disc burning process. Good luck.
Burning the Disc
Now that you've finally finished making that exhausting Raw Dump and you have succesfully injected your maps into your iso. Well theres only one thing left to do, burn the disc.
Programs you will need if you don't already have:

First we will insert our DVD+R Dual Layer into the drive, let it fire up, and close and windows pop up thats comes along.
Next open up DvdInfo and then click on the +RW button shown:
Now we want to set the Default DL to DVD-ROM as pictured below. To do this simply click on the little bubble and then the "Set Default DL" button.
A little warning will come up, just click yes.
After this close out DVD Info and open up Clone Cd and then choose the file option to "Write from File":
This is VERY IMPORTANT!! If this is the first time you have burned a disc you will have to go out and find your .dvd file. NOT THE ISO!!! Once you find the .dvd file, select it and hit ok/open and then the next button in the bottom right hand cornerof the page.
The next screen prompts use to choose a burning speed. I always leave mine at max but if you find yourself having bufferunder run problems or disc failures, drop the speed down to like 2 or 3x. After setting the speed, hit the next button.
Assuming you did everything right, this is now the screen that pops up. Take a break and relax, it usually takes anywhere from 30-45 minuets to burn a disc.
If all goes well, when finished this is the screen you get:
Take the disc out and pop it in your xbox and your good to go... as long as the Raw Dump was done correctly. Have fun modding.
