Recover gamertag to mod halo 2

hi,

i have a original xbox and an xbox 360...however i want to learn how to mod halo REALLY bad

The problem is i cannot get my xbox live gamertag onto my original xbox in order to update my orignal exbox dashboard..

Any help would be greatly appreciated

also im finding it hard to understand how to get the halo 2 maps off of the xbox onto the comuter

You don't have to do it on the original xbox. There is a way to do it on a 360.

thanks man.....do i need any cords or anything to get the halo 2 maps onto the computer from the 360..

can i just mod on custom games rather than multiplayer

The XBOX 360 Thing will only give you the downloaded maps. I still use my original XBOX to mod H2. It's been a long time since I had to do my dash, but I think you may be able to d/l the new dash without a gamertag (or is that just 360, now I'm all mixed up)

Anyways, found this:

It shows how to update your dash after softmodding (although I thought it wouldn't let you softmod until it was update!?!?)

If you don't already have a modded dashboard you should really mod it. It doesn't hurt anything and you can always "unmod" it. it makes it a lot easier to FTP (get you maps onto your computer and vice-versa)

Skitzo, the reason i posted this was for people to help me recover my gamer tag onto my original xbox... i already no i how to soft mod so i dont need the links

So do you already have your box modded? Although I haven't tried, I have read many places that you need to put your gamertag onto your box before modding it.

If not, then I guess it depends how you got your account. If you are paying by Visa/MC, you should be able to just enter your details into account recovery on your XBOX. once this is done it should be accessable to both your XBOX & 360. Otherwise,, there's always 1-800-4-MY-XBOX. Maybe they'll be able to help you :p
