Question on how the mods work

Hi, im a new guy around here and im thinking anout using the tutorials to mod my xbox. I have read the "modding for beginners" over and over again and one question keeps comming up: how do the mods work on the xbox if you mods thew maps on your computer? I know i probably sound like the biggest noob asking this question, but i just can't figure out how it works. Also, i know you shouldn't mod and xbox live cuz you're running the risk of being banned, but how would you disable, and turn off the mods so you can go on xbox live? Thank you for helping the noob!!!!!

Dont worry man some of us modders probably had the same questions too.

Well the mods work through transferring over because it overwrites the file so that it is a different map than the original map. And the only way to take off the mods so you can go on live is to completely take the mod off and replace the modded maps with unmodded maps. I hope this made it easier for you to understand.

yes, thanks. now i know you cant really turn them off, but i guess i still dont get how the modded maps on your computer get to the xbox. do you have to download them somehow to the harddrive, or does it just work?

Well if you want mods for the old maps then you will have to save Halo 2 To your harddrive

But for the new maps such as relic, containment, etc. its already on there if you have live.

How do you save the old maps to your HD? I know im really dumb, but i still dont get how the mods work on the xbox. Lets take the new maps for example. Once you mod them, how does it get to the xbox? since it is on the computer does it automatically work, or do you have to do something else?

In order to get them to the computer first you have to install a linux on your xbox or use the non installable one that allows FTP (file transfer protocal) wich means that when you plug your xbox into a router and your comp into the same router it lets you tap into your xbox through the comp using your xbox ip and flash fxp after your in your xbox you go to the folder where you maps are saved and you transfer them to your comp then you mod them and ftp them back to your xbox the same way you got them from your xbox.
