The Bannings of XBL/Bungie explained

I see many of people wandering if you can get banned for different things and the answer is yes, you can get banned for any network manipulting, hacked maps(modded), and/or boosting. The network manipulting means any type of bridge being used even if it's just for host, it's still cheating.

The Xbox Live suspensions for cheating are:
First offence: 24 hours(1 day)
Second offence: 48 hours(2 days)
Third offence: 7 days(1 week)
Fourth offence: 2 weeks
Fifth offence: Permanent ban

Note: The Xbox Live Suspensions are based on the negative feedback people put on people. Xbox live suspensions also mean it's completly off of Xbox Live.

The Bungie suspensions for cheating are:
First offence: 7 day ban
Second offence: Permanent ban

Note: This ban is from the bungie team having evidence that you cheated in any way. These suspensions are only from halo 2 matchmaking.

If you have any type of modified maps you will only have 6 hours to play in matchmaking is done for you. If you sign on and back off with these modified maps you will also be banned. Even if you don't play matchmaking you will still get banned in the 6 hours after you signed on.

Crackmatt ~ Just want to include that I made this thread because of so many curious cheaters out there(some not cheaters) about the banning/suspensions times. This is based on from what Bungie/Xbox Live said. From there, it should give you an idea of what is expected. Also, when people make threads about it, other people just post their past experiences which varies very much.

UPDATE:4/14/07 - Once you get on with modified maps, you are banned from matchmaking, there is no more modding, bridging. You can still team standby, but you will have to get the host by luck.

i bridge but i only bridge for host no one in the game even notices how would they track me or is there no way for them to do it

You dont know that for sure, no one knows how the feedback or banning system works

You do't get permanently banned. You get "permanently suspended".

This isnt true I have bridged about 30 times and I always get suspend for a week.

If you're talking about getting suspended for a week from bungie, that's what it says in their FAQ.

Just to clarify something, if you sign on to your modded xbox then sign off right away. Guess what your banned. As soon as your buddy list comes up you have 6 hours from then. Also if you appear offline it sometimes prolongs the banning by about 2 hours sometimes 3 hours.

im pretty sure thats not exactly right, or maybe it varies because my main account got banned for 1 day, then 1 week, then 2 weeks, then 2 weeks , then 2 weeks, then 2 weeks. then 2 weeks. and it is still working perfectly.

i have signed in with my mods before and played a game and did not get banned

My first account i satndby'd for like 3 games and i was permanately suspened? No warning or anything?
