| 7S Enthusiast | Ok the first tutorial of how to bridge on macintosh without installing Virtual PC and windows and all that stuff that just slow your computer ok here is what you need *XBOX (Of course) *Macintosh Computer (Must have Airport) *Normal Eternet Cable *Wireless Router ![]() Ok so your macintosh is connected to the internet via Wireless right? Ok go to Preferences and click the Sharing icon (folder with a yellow logo inside) then go to Internet Tab and select in the Sharing Connection From field select Airport then on to computers using: choose the Build in Ethernet option ok this is first step Ok now connect via ethernet your macintosh with your xbox now go to xbox settings and do the following: Open up Terminal (in Applications -> Utilities) and type "ifconfig en0" (zero, not a capital-o). You're looking for the bit that says "inet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx". In my case, the number I get here is 192.168.2.1 Second, note down the IP address of your wireless router, which in my case is 192.168.0.1 you find something like this: ![]() NOW On your XBOX do this: Start up your Xbox and navigate to the Network settings menu Under IP address, enter the number you got from the "ifconfig en0" command earlier on, but with the final number one place higher. In my case, I take the 192.168.2.1, and input 192.168.2.2 in the IP address box on my Xbox Under subnet, input 255.255.255.0 Under router/gateway, enter the number you got earlier from the "ifconfig en0" command. In my case, that's "192.168.2.1" Move onto DNS. Enter the IP address of your wireless router (in my case, "192.168.0.1") in both the primary and secondary IP address fields Leave PPPoE and Advanced settings blank (i.e. OFF and Automatic) Now you get your Xbox and Macintosh Bridging. Now for forcing host read My How to Force Host on Macintosh with Pictures http://www.se7ensins.com/forums/netw...-pictures.html Finally MAC users can do IT Remember always put the IPv4 to off that way will work for you ThanKs GT Xbox Live - Po11o Having difficulites use this as another help that can give u bridge btw mac and xbox ![]() Hey, I was able to get a working connection using my iBook (early 2004) and Internet Sharing. I used the hints posted by Perrin. However, I didn't mess around with my Ethernet port at all. All I did was connect a regular ethernet cable, no need for a crossover cable, from my ethernet port to the port on the Xbox. Checked the IP assigned to the ethernet port (in terminal.app, type "ifconfig en0" [zero, not a capital-o] and it will return the info about the config of the built-in ethernet. On my machine it returns "inet 192.168.2.1 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.2.255". I believe OSX always uses 192.168.2.1 but it would be best to check rather than just assuming. This is how my Xbox looks (thanks Perrin): IP Configuration: Manual IP: 192.168.2.2 Mask: 255.255.255.0 Router/Gateway: 192.168.2.1 [or the address returned from the ifconfig command above if it's different] DNS Configuration: Manual [enter the IPs of the dns servers provided by SBC] They should be in the documentation and likely in your router config. If you can't find them, type "dig" in terminal.app and after a bunch of text scrolls by, you'll have a line starting with "SERVER" near the bottom, the IP address in that line is the DNS server your computer is using, so you can enter the same in the xbox settings. PPPoE Settings: Off Advanced: Automatic Also, this is what I did. I went into my iBook and found the MAC address my airport was using and coppied that MAC address to the address mapping feature in the Xbox. That said and done I was able to connect without any further problems. Just make sure you are using the IP, Mask, and Router that terminal returns when you ask it per instructions above. Ok people i got netbarrie I will try to force host so if i can do it a tutorial of forcing host on mac will be uploaded soon w8 a few hours theres a way to give yourself host i already write a tutorial look at this http://www.se7ensins.com/forums/netw...-pictures.html if you do it right you will always get host by yourself. if this was usefull thank me by clicking the botom down the right in this mssge thanks cya Last edited by l Krafty l; 12-13-2006 at 10:01 PM. |

| 7S Enthusiast | Re: How to Bridge on Macintosh with Pictures hey se7ensins fanatics i been out for a couple of time around here but im back, feel free to ask me any questions regarding problems with macintosh, Ill try to answer ASAP also ill try to upload pictures for the other tutorial, cause they went missing, see ya TCP 80 UDP 88 UDP 3074 TCP 3074 UDP 53 TCP 53 you can also apply DMZ setting to your xbox ip, and this will open all ports on the xbox so you will play without troubles, the thing is trying to configurate your router because different brands requiere different settings, so let me know your router and i might be able to help. | 7S Enthusiast | Re: How to Bridge on Macintosh with Pictures is there anything different you have to do for this to work on halo 3? |

| :( ![]() | Re: How to Bridge on Macintosh with Pictures Just add the Halo 3 IP Ranges instead of the old Halo 2/Xbox Live IPs. The IP Ranges can be found in Router Bridging in Halo 3. |

| Novice | Re: How to Bridge on Macintosh with Pictures Hey i have been reading this and its very helpful except my nat is moderate and i get booted from alot of games, also im unable to join a game a friend of mine hosts. I saw your reply and see which ports need to be open and when i go into my router it shows the two comps on the network but not my xbox. When i check the xbox's ip to open to ports its 65.x.x.x and in my router im only able to change the last digit (192.168.0._) and cant put in my xbox's ip. I have tried to open the ports for my comp which the xbox is linked to but that doesnt seem to work. I have a netgear wireless router and am using an imac airport sharing the connection with an cable. Can anyone help me? is their something i am missing? the router assigns my comp an ip within range but my comp doesnt give the xbox one.. please any help would be great. |

| :( ![]() | Re: How to Bridge on Macintosh with Pictures I don't know what Router number you have or whatever you want to call it, but the one that I clicked on definitely had a guide. I clicked on the first one and got this guide Port Forwarding Xbox Live 360 on the Netgear CBVG834G If you want to tell me your Router number I will find a guide for you. |

| Novice | Re: How to Bridge on Macintosh with Pictures Okay ive looked at that page and it says i need a static IP address and im using Dynamic. Im not sure what all needs to be done to change this. My modem number is CG814WG, its a wireless router, if i could just make my xbox IP be within range of my router i would be fine. I know how to get into the router and open ports its just my xbox ip is not 192.168.0.x its 65.27.198.x, is that my mac assigning the ip since im sharing my airports connection to eithernet? thanks for helping me btw, i really appreciate it. Also i just tried changing to static ip but that page only tells me how to set my comp up, what do i need to change in router? i tried to input the info i thought was needed but it was status:failed. | :( ![]() | Re: How to Bridge on Macintosh with Pictures I'm not sure what's happening with you. You definitely shouldn't have your Xbox IP starting with 65. What is your Router's IP? Is it 192.168.2.X or .1.X or .0.X? I'll have to do some research because I'm not 100% sure what's up. |
