Dummies Guide To Shader Swapping

In this tutorial you will learn how to shader swap, shader swapping is like skinning a weapon, it will make it clear and glowing.

Programs Needed:
UMP V3:
Dothalo: included in UMP V3

Now on to the tutorial:

First Step, Opening Dothalo And Your Map.

1. Open up UMP V3.

2. Open up Dothalo in UMP V3.
Click the image to open in full size.

3. Open up your map in Dothalo.

4. When you click open a new window should pop up.

That looks like this:

Step Two, Open The Tags.

1. Scroll down to the [mode] tag. (In the tags window.)

2. Find whatever object you want to shader swap. For this tutorial we will use the master cheif.

It should load for a little while then it should look like this:

click "OK" for the window that pops up.

Step Three, Changing The Dependencies And This Shader Swapping.

1. Now go to the dependencies window for the master chief tag under mode or model. It should look like this:

2. now change the shaders to whatever you like. check the bottom of the page for examples. for this tutorial we will use the "objects\vehicles\scorpion\shaders\headlight". This is what it should look like when your done:

3. Hit save changes in the dependencies window.

CONGRATS! You have now shader swapped, resign your map and FTP it.

hey i did all of that but when i went to the game. it was shader swaped on the ground but not when i picked it up.

yea me 2. when i pick up anything it goes back to normal. i shadder swapped the banshee, but when im in the banshee it stays, but when i pick up a gun, it goes back to the normal shadders

I was having the same problem with the shaders going back to normal but i figured it out on my own and i have only been modding for a couple months. If you are trying to shader swap the shotgun and goes back to normal, you also have to shader swap the tag that has fp in it for the weapon. Leave thanks if it helped

Do u have any pics.....

Oh by the way i made a warlock mod and i need some help with swapin shaders and adding new partcle effects. One more thing and making the map glow and be dark. If anyone can help me il send u the map in pff format so u can attach it and help me make the mod real good!

dude im not trying to be an idiot or bug u but i have done shader swapping on alot of things so good job again ohh and do u know how i can skin the br im trying to click on it and it says to see if it is in the same directory as the map but it will let me skin the walls and thing cause it says bitmaps turf walls or somethin so im a noob but could u let me know

I think you need to put mainmenu.map shared.map and single player shared.map.


Yea, it would be helpfull if you put pics so we now what we are going to see.
