20easy steps2 skin with ms paint

programs needed:

DXT Bmp- link: dxtbmpx.EXE - FileFront.com

ms paint-all ready on computer

dot halo-duh

tutorial:

1.open dothalo

2.open map

3.go to tag window

4.go to [bitm] bitmap

5.scroll down to scenarios

6.make sure you have DXT open

7.then click on something you want to skin

8.if a picture apears, then good

9.a Raw Data Editor window has picture and two options-extract or inject

10.click extract save it- this should apear on desktop
go to Dxt- File-->open-->click on extracted file then open it

11.picture apears in Dxt

12.click Image-->send to editor

13.paint opens

14.do what you want to it

15.File-->Save-->X out

16.go back to Dxt-->Image-->Reload after edit-->File-->Save

17.go back to dothalo

18.Raw tag editor-->click Inject-->select skined picture-->then Save changes

19.then go to Map Tools-->click Fix Encryption

20.Your first skin. YAY

have you tried having DXT open while your doing it?
dont click on bumps or anything other than senarios

you will have you use a diff program unless you just switch shaders on turrets and stuff

just click save until it saves and not asks you' whether to save as jpeg or what ever

ok, ive gotten everthing to work now, and all i did was make like a little msg(cuz i was gonna make a video for one of my very bestfriends cuz they moved away, and it didnt show up at all. well, it kinda did, but, the msg was like way 3 words long, and i made the background white, and the letters read, and theres a ton of little pixels that are green and blue and red and all different colors and its nothing like wat i did in MS paint

i follow the tut exactly but when i click inject bitmap the picture i get in the raw data editor is lots of random colours and not what i wanted

can anyone give me advice on this

i just figured it out. i had to save the file in a "DDS DXT5" format

And if you are modding on an Xbox 360 like me your going to have to download shared.map, mainmenu.map, and single-playershared.map

u need them all, dosen matter are u on 360 or not.. u need them to mod, not to ur hdd

What i was trying to say is that you cant get those on your 360 so your going to have to download them from another place. You can easily get them from an Original Xbox(Thats modded of course).

For some Reason im having a problem i skinned the wharthog Standard. And everything was fine, like the DXTBMP and MS Paint worked and i was able to Inject it into DH. But when i went to Start up the Game it was still the Same. Help?

You have to download Bitmap Internalizer. Open up warthog standard in it and click internalize. Then inject your skin in Dothalo. You only have to internalize external bitmaps. It tells you if the bitmap is external or internal in the window that the bitmap's picture is shown in. Make sure you inject the skin after you inturnalize or the skin will be all black. And it's okay if you already injected the skin without internalizing just internalize it and inject the skin again. Oh and if your warthog skin comes out all weird in the bitmap window you probably saved it in the wrong DXT format. Just try all of them until you find the correct one if you don't know what format the warthog was originally.
