[TUT] How to Skin with Photo Filtre or Paint *Pics*

Seems that many of you have problems with skins. I hope this tutorial will help you. I am using Windows Vista

What you need:

-Map that you want to skin
-Shared.map, Singleplayershared.map and Mainmenu.map
-This Skinnig Pack (made by: LegitModZ)

The Skin Pack includes:

*DotHalo
*DXTBmp
*Photo Filtre
*Prophet 1.0

*Shared/Mainmenu maps

How to start:

1. Put Shared.map, Singleplayershared.map and Mainmenu.map with map that you want to skin in same folder. In this tutorial im using Ascension.



2. Open map in dothalo. and go to Bitmap [bitm] tag. when done, leave it there.



3. Open Prophet. With that you can select place to skin. like if you want skin middle thing of ascension, select it. and you see tag name there.



4. now go to dot halo and find that tag. its named as: scenarios\bitmaps\multi\ascension\ascension_dish
Find it on dothalo Bitmap tag. "Raw data editor" window should pop up.



5.1 now look at the format box in "Raw data editor" and remeber it. in this case its DXT4/5.
5.2 when you remeber it, click Excract Bitmap to save that pic as .dds file. name it like it is "ascension_dish".



Leave it there.


Seting up your editor:


1. Open DXTBmp. Click prefs -> Select editor. Find your Photo Filtre icon on your desktop. and select it. (You must install it before this)



Back into skinnig:




6. Now open your .dds file (ascension_dish) that you exctracted (saved). it should open to DXTbmp. on this icon you can sure that you selected right editor.





7. Now select image -> send to editor on DXTBmp. Photo Filtre should automatic open. Do your edits to bitmap and when done, select "save". Leave DXTBmp open.





8. When saved, close Photo Filtre and go back to DXTBmp. Select image -> Reload after edit. It should reload picture.





9. When you see your pic as edited on DXTBmp, its time to move to saving part. Click File -> "Save As DDS Texture" rename edited image to ascension_dish1. And this is important part, select right DXT format. You know right format from Step 5.1. So its DXT 5 in this case.




10. Hit save and close DXTBmp. now open your dot halo and find ascension_dish tag again. Click "Inject Bitmap" and select ascension_dish1. It chenges your bitmap in "Raw Data Editor" window to your skinned bitmap.



11. Now just Fix Encryption and Close map. Then remeber to resign it. And your done. Ill update this later how to skin weapons + vehicles.
