Skinning Halo 2 With Microsoft Paint

Things you are going to need:
- Softmodded xbox
- DotHalo v1.0b3.0(Get it here guys)
- DXTBmp:dxtbmpx.EXE - FileFront.com

Getting Started

First you are going to need to open your Halo 2map, in which I am using Sanctuary (deltatap), and the DotHalo I have provided you with. If you have the same version you can just use that.



Then you are going to need to locate the [bitm] Bitmap tag.



Then for this tutorial I want to edit the cliffs so scroll down to scenarios\bitmaps\multi\deltatap\deltatap_cliffs



Then click "Extract Bitmap"



Then save it somewhere that you will remember where it is.



You must remember what format it's in.



Then open up DXTBmp.



Then click "File" and then "Open" and then locate the bitmap you just extracted. Then click open.



Then click "Image" and then "Send to Editor"



Then edit the bitmap however you want.



Then click "File" and then "Save"



Then maximize DXTBmp backup Click "Image" and then "Reload After Edit"



Then click "File" then "Save As" and then "DDS Texture"



Look at the "Save as Type" and make sure it's the right format. If so click "Save"



It says it already exists so click "Yes" to overwrite it.



Then go back to DotHalo and go to the [bitm] Bitmap tag.



Then locate scenarios\bitmaps\multi\deltatap\deltatap_cliffs again. Click "Inject Bitmap"



Then find your edited bitmap and then click "Open"



You will get a message that says that it has been injected. Then click "Ok"



Then you will see your edited bitmap. Then click "Fix Encryption"



Then you can close DotHalo and ftp the map to your xbox and then you will have to delete the temporary files out of X, Y, and Z drives in order for the skins to show up and then just load up Halo 2 and check out your skin!

umm i fail to load the maps and i deleted all the files out of the x,y and z drives

Well it has nothing to do with this tutorial, so yes that is kind of stupid.

Remember to encrypt it correctly before resigning, and now take it to another thread.

umm whenever i save it i put the bitmap in a folder and whenever i go to load it in dxt its not in the folder why is this

i did this and it seems to work but when i go near a br it freezes y is that ? is it because i changed things about the br of did i just screw up?

hey i did this and it worked for the first and second times, but now i do exactly what im supposed to, and when i inject the new bitmap, the result is a tie dye mess i did not create... think u could help me out?

wen i go to bitm and click on something and go to the raw data editor nothing ever comes up.there are no pics of anything there.?=(
