use can use Cain to get the ip's
and you can block people with zone alarm and boot them from the game

so do you have to have cain or commview up and be bridged with those the whole time? and do you need to have a full party or could you go in by yourself?

Re: Bridge yourself host 100% working

I was doing it tonight, works 100% for me... check out brainfreeze's tutorial for the wireless gears bridging also. He mentions to put the firewall back to high for 5 seconds as soon as your match is loading, then back to medium. It's worked 100% since then.

I'm using switchsniffer to bridge my connections at the router and za to control connections.

Also if you're using switchsniffer, press stop when the countdown begins for the match, it will probably freeze and lag you out if not.

Re: Bridge yourself host 100% working

Ok i am fairly new at this, however i used to bridge in halo 3 on my old computer that had XP. Now i have a new laptop that has vista. And i really want to get this working for Gears 2. Question Number 1) How does this even work? I thought that you have to be poisoning on cain, for zone alarm to even have any effect. Question Number 2) I have Windows Vista, and everytime i poison in cain, i lag out of xbox live. Does ANYONE have any solutions. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!

First of all, remove Cain. It's a pile of crap. Download Switchsniffer and go through the switchsniffer tutorial on this site. Once it's installed and working make sure you start it, then create a lobby. Put your firewall on high and invite your friend (i do wingman). Press start, count 10 seconds, then put your firewall back to medium. As soon as you see a loading screen, put your firewall back to high for 5 seconds, then medium again. Once the match is just about to start and the count down is showing, press stop on switchsniffer.

Must have a full party. So wingman is best.

Don't standby.

Re: Bridge yourself host 100% working

I didn't read all the way down, but someone asked the point and said hst powers are gone, that is in fact very wrong, any pro player of gears of war can tell you this when you are in a game as host, shot gun still dominates, you will pop everyone's head that comes by you, as for non host, everytime you point blank on a bad connection or someone else's in fact, you notice they don't explode even the best of the point blanks, so I support bridging, I am tired of these very laggy games when on my connection it works totally fine, whats up with that anyways? just need a better way cause can't run downstairs... for comp

Kills 3,993 Deaths 1,228 Kill/Death Ratio 3.25 Hungry Froggy

I like this tut thanks for the info

Re: Bridge yourself host 100% working

I have a bridge between my wireless card on my PC and a LAN connection through the back of my PC connecting to my Xbox, and this method hasn't worked once for me. I followed every step in the guide perfectly, no clue why it's not working. Anyone have any ideas?

This method does not seem to work anymore. I have been trying to figure out a different way for the past couple of hours without any luck. If anyone does find out how to do it, let us all know. I have to say that the lag is worse and that finding a game is near impossible.

Re: Bridge yourself host 100% working

My set up is different, I don't use wireless. Instead I have my PC and Xbox going directly through to my router.

If you're using XP or Vista you should be able to bridge the connections using the network manager. Highlighting both the wireless connection and the LAN xbox connection, right clicking and selecting bridge connections should do the trick. Sorry I haven't had much experience with this type of bridging.

Here's Krafty's tutorial on bridging in this way, I think it's relative to your set up.

The problem right now is that with the new update, you aren't able to force host anymore. I have found a few new IP's that I don't recognize, and I think that these may be the problem. I think that EPIC's IP addresses may have changed.

Not working at all? I haven't tested after the update, have you found a way to work around this?
