How to edit & rehash Gears of war 2

This tutorial will expose that the editing and rehashing of gears is pretty self explanatory . The tools you will need are listed below .

- Hex Workshop ( google it )
- MD5 Hasher ( google it )
- Both Gears of war files ( Coalesced_int & Xbox360TOC )


Now theoretically this can all be done in notepad for the editing but searching for strings would complicate the process more . Start by opening Coalesced_int in Hex Workshop , any Hex Workshop will do as long as you can edit the file and search for strings .



Do a random search and search for something common in this gears of war file . For example I am going to search something about Rank or Ranked in gears of war .





Hit ok to begin your new search . Great now I have found something with the word " Rank " inside gears and it will be highlighted on what you are searching . Find the decimals that are next to your search like for example I found that MinRank Players to start gears is 6 , Ill change that to 2 .



After you are done editing your file , be sure to save your edits by going to file save and do not create a backup because its not needed .





Nice we are almost done but we need to get the hash from our new modified file and paste it over the old hash in Xbox360TOC . Start by opening your new modified Coalesced_int inside MD5 Hasher , again any will do for a MD5 Hasher because all we need to do is have it display our new hash for the file .





Copy and paste the new hash into a new document/notepad . People ask me why I do this , because the MD5 Hasher I am using displays the new Hash in all Capitals . I want to be safe and make sure my hash matches the same way all the other hash inside Xbox360TOC .




When you have pasted your hash inside notepad or any document , begin by rewriting the same hash bellow it so that when you are finished typing you can compare that they are the same . Once they have been matched , copy your lower cased hash and open Xbox360TOC . Navigate the path :

\GearGame\CookedXenon\Coalesced_int.bin

and paste your new hash over the old hash



Click file and save , you are now finished . Your new modified files are ready to be transferred back into the ISO .

Make sure you're Type is set to " Text String " Then type in you're value . Once you have done that just press ok . Also make sure you're options are set to " Unicode String " and the Direction is " Down "

If you cant find what you are looking for make sure you are doing it right because I found the String " Speed " in a large number of areas inside the file .

This is a Good tut Dude, hope to see more from you. I thought you wrote a tut on Manually Rehashing the profile after modding your XP amount but this is for the iso files, great tutorial.

Hey xdrugs, First just want to say Nice tut and thanks, also is it possible to Edit the file only just for Damage and More health instead of having like super speed and all that other stuff. Appreciate it again mate.

I know you were asking drugs, but I think that you can edit any value that is there to whatever you want. It doesn't have to be specifically the values that he had. You just need to find the right values for whatever you want to mod and change them.

I don't know like anything about hexing lol. Sorry. But I just know by the way drugs explained this tutorial that you can replace certain values to have different outcomes. I don't know what values go with what.

Fair enough, So one more question im curious to know, No matter what type of match you are in ( Horde, Public, Private) as long as the person with the mods is hosting everyone will have it as well how does it work in that sense?

Yes. I believe that if the modder is host everyone in the game will have the mods.
