How to edit & rehash Gears of war 2

Nice Tut! I was hesitant at first when I tried this, but this is actually very easy. You have broaden my horizon for Gears of War. Thanks. C u online!

*Edit

Suggestion for searchin for a certain value to edit: do not put space between text when searching. eg. MaxDownCount or CarmineMp. If you need help finding anything feel free to PM me here or on xbox. I'll be more than happy to help.

Also I found the most effective way to search for weapons is to search for "InitialMagazine" then scroll up and you should c your weapon. They do not use the orig names from the game, they use shotgun instead of gnasher.

You may want to point out that you cannot make the file larger, or you cannot place it in the game. So instead you should press insert so you do not add more values than intended. If any1 has figured out a way to edit the weapons only on the host team could you please help me here? Thanks again!

Mate it is impossible to make the file larger unless you are that stupid to add more bytes beyond the previous ones that are already present . If you are simply changing the decimals with a higher value , the file size does not change and I have about maxed ever decimal out inside the file .

Helpful strings in the game are not found by InitialMagSize .. if you want to get down with the dependencies of the gun you need to search for the gun as you searched for it as in gears of war one " Weap_Bow / Weap_grenade " However some of the weapons on there that were not related to gears one will totally have a different name .

Do not under any circumstances mistake the " . " as spaces between each string because they're actually hidden values up to a extent .

I have been told that in my mods , friends are not able to do the things I do due the fact of me being host .

Well "initialmagazine" helped ME, but ur methods may differ from mine. Whenever I searched for a weapon such as "pistol", I found about a hundred different strings with the same word. I used "InitialMagazine" because it limited the search to only the weapons. Usually just above is the name of the weapon which I could copy for easy access, also all the strings for damage and such were right below. I also did not mod in gow 1, so anything that has been discussed about that I am unaware of. Also, I like pressing the insert button on my keyboard so I do not "accidentally" add another value(without replacing a decimal) in when using backspace.(which I have done)

I would like to know more about limiting the mods to yourself. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread for a while. Like I stated before thanks, and I hope to c more from you.

ps. I hope your not offended by my suggestions. I just figured n00bs like me may need more elaborations on the methods of Hex editing. Especially when someone advanced like you may consider something common knowledge (like most of the things you said in your post) for most may not be for others. These were just some of the things I did that helped me. Just n00b advice in general.

i did everything properly, ran abgx on the iso.. and the stealth passed, but the game crc check failed as expected...

doesnt modding iso's get you console banned by m$?

is it worth the risk?

tried making my own mods it didn't work out too well...i found all the things i wanted to edit no problem at all, changed them no problem at all, rehashed it, and put it on a disc then it froze when i went to start it... any ideas what i have done wrong... im pretty sure i edited all the files correctly.. i started with a fresh coalsced_int.bin

I encountered a weird glitch after editing GOW2. The only values I changed were the Marcus's and drone's health and regen, pistol damage and recoil, and points. This only happened when I used Marcus, not with any of the other cog. I could'nt: shoot, sprint, mount a wall, or melee. I could only walk around and change my weapons. I can upload the file i used if you would like. Sorry for bad quality, I used my phone. Did not feel like whipping out my capture card.

I think I know what I did that caused it. I did this mod last night so I forgot I changed the string: b.P.l.a.y.F.i.r.e.C.a.m.e.r.a.S.h.a.k.e. to false to c it would decrease the camera shaking. Well I guess I was partially right lol!

I mod coalesced_int & Xbox360TOC for more points per kill. Game work but in locale match I get 175points per kill. I don't know what I do wrong. Maybe I get standard points because I don't play online?

I have this problem with files modded by me and by xdrugs

What you edit to the top , you always must edit at the bottom .

Yeah your decimals and place were really messed up there ... all of the digits were not the same so there was no telling how many points you would have got .

Tell me how many points you want and ill put that on your file .
