Can this be run from port 2?? Otherwise i will have to get another card.. i assume?? What do ya think? |

| Novice | Try using the Textbook 2008 tutorial. I think you will find that it takes out some steps and is easier to follow. A link to it is in my last reply. Its by far the best tutorial on how to mod any xbox 360 including the elite. Includes pictures and working links where to download everything you need. Also make sure the drivers you use for your sata card are up to date. There is a link to the latest via chipset drivers in the textbook tutorial. I had to update my drivers before I could get it to see the Benq drive. Just because its worked before does not mean it WORKS NOW!!! I went with Iprep which for a noob like myself is very easy to use. Once I got my sata card working everything was cake. Hope that helps you. I am not sure if this is right or not but if you use Iprep to prepare your usb thumb drive or floopy I do not think it matters what port you go with. I am pretty sure I used the second port when I did my mod. I have 3 on the card and i used the one in the middle if I am not mistaken. I would atleast try using Iprep since it does the same thing as dos32 and 16. Just make sure to unplug everything else so you do not flash something you did not want to! | Novice ![]() | I say use Port 1 because that port is VERY easy to find, you can use the other ports if you get their number And dont say my tut doesnt work anymore, I use it all the time myself and it works wonderfully EVERY time, I dont know why you guys are having trouble with it. iPrep is a horrible program for BenQs in my opinion, its great for other drives and I recommend it for other programs, but I have flashed 10+ BenQ drives in my area for friends and friends of friends and have yet to have ANY issue at all with DosFlash16. Hate to sound like an ***, but right now Im not in the best of moods, if you are having trouble with this tutorial, its kinda your own fault, its a user error, not a tut or program error. |

| Novice | Obviously i have a conflict somewhere. I am also using an older P3 that has been fine, but it dose not support usb boot. I do have another pc that has an over heat problem which i am in the process of fixing... that is a P4 with the usb support. I'll drop the sata card in that and give it a go. I believe that the tut from Venomous Fire is fine and would propably work fine if i can ever get a read on the damn drive! Anyway... thanks for all the help and insight... we keep you posted on the success. |

| Novice | ok... well i guess all the posts i have read on the various forums whether i use this tut or the textbook 2008... they reference port 1 on the sata card. I can only assume that you cannot use port 2. The status i get when i try to do a read with dosflash 16 or using the iprep is x07f, and i cycle the 360 several times and nothing. anyone know what that is?? also, when i try it via onboard sata on port 1 i get the x51 to xD1 and as soon as i power on the 360 it stops at x80 and then returns back to x51 and xD1 when i poser off. Tried this several times with no luck. All this is done from port 2 on my via6421 pci sata card. Since my port 1 snapped off, i ordered a new rosewell pci sata and will try this again. Has anyone experienced this before? I tried new sata cables, new machine, new os, updated to latest drivers for the sata card... I am completely at a loss here.. all i can say is hopefully with the new sata card all will be ok on port 1! |

| Novice | same here ohboy2k4!!! i follow the tutorial to the T and when i get to the part turning the xbox 360 on the numbers dont even move!!! 1st time i try to turn it off the numbers dont move... 2nd time i try to turn it on the number move but they dont move fast 3rd time i try it numbers dont move at all... as for the 4th and 5th and 6th time that happens... 7th time i restart my pc and try it over again. it then gets to the part where the card supposely writes the data to the disk... it gets stuck on bank 0 for a long long time... after 8 hours i shut it off because it pissed me off. ( kept it on all night to see what it would do) 8th time i wake up restart pc and it repeats step 2 then repeats step 4,5,6 after i try to turn it off and on because the number doesnt move after 15 minutes... maybe some xbox 360's are not meant to get modded... i have also tried new sata cables, new pc, new os and everything like that. i even did textbooks tutorial and the same things happens on the same part. after doing this so much i know my serial number, and the dosflash r 6c00 1 a0 1 4 c:\orig.bin 0 ( i even tried 1 sometimes and still doesnt work.) ( i have about 3 computers i tried it on and i know all of the ports on each of them!) "Prop your 360 faceplate like it was on the 360, and turn on the 360 for 5 seconds, if it doesn’t begin reading, turn it off for 5 seconds, then turn it on and repeat until it reads the firmware, might take 5+ tries" does it suppose to take 26+ tries? i have been doing this for 2 hours straight... pressing the button.. pressing off button... pressing on button... reset pc when takes over 15 mins.... turn off button... heck, i even placed a game in the 360... after that didnt work i placed a movie... placing a move got me to step 2 ( the number moved to another number and stays there forever no matter how many times i turn off or on the 360) Last edited by findme; 02-27-2008 at 03:01 AM. |

I am throughly convinced now that ipep and dosflash16 utilize port 1 ONLY! Got my new pci sata from newegg the rosewill rc-212 and left the jumpers at factory. Removed my other sata card completely from windows booting into safe mode. Then rebooted the machine. Did a shut down and installed the new sata card. Started the machine and let xp do it's thing. Then it prompted me to reboot because of the new hard ware install. (winxp installed drivers at this point) After rebooting i checked the driver (ver. 5.1.6000.562) I let it go and tried it. I re-booted from the usb, i used iprep to make it, and followed the textbook 2008 example. The cable was plugged into the port 1 of the sata card and as soon as i ran the command (dben 0536313 75007) and hit the enter key and followed the prompts... it did exactly that.. it read, erased, and wrote the firmware back and fully tested with Devil May Cry 4. Sorry Venomous, but i already had the usb key made... but i truly believe that your tut would have worked perfectly as well. This has been a very interesting problem and it did really piss me off at times, but that is in the past now ![]() Good Luck out there! |

| Novice ![]() | Textbook 2008 is a great tut if you cannot get DosFlash to work. I have never had issues with DosFlash, and Ive never heard of people having issues until this thread. But yea, glad you finally got it working..Im almost 100% convinced people who are having trouble with it are not plugging in their 360 into Port 1, which apparently was your problem as well. But anwhoo is still there on the tut as a whole |
