Re: How to flash a BenQ Xbox 360

Hi, first off thank you for the tutorial.

My device manager shows that I have a "Intel(R) ICH8R/ICH9R SATA RAID Controller.

Would this be compatable to flash the benq xbox360?

Thanks.

Re: How to flash a BenQ Xbox 360

im new to xbox360 modding but this tut looks really easy i have a xbox made in 3-21-2008 lot 0812 it has the benq drive tomorrow after i go to radio shack to get the tools i will try to mod it. I'm just looking to play backups, some on live and off. From what i have been reading this is a pretty evasive flash? very slim MS can detect this? I realize it's never 100% but some feedback from someone who has Backed up their games and played on live for a while would be cool. thanks guys!

For the PCI card which one of these will work

http://cgi.ebay.com/IDE-PCI-SATA-Ser...QQcmdZViewItem

or the one that has xbox360 in the title
http://cgi.ebay.com/VIA-VT6421-SATA-...QQcmdZViewItem

Both are in hong kong and shipping might take forever >_<

Bought the bottom one, figured i could be patient for it to come /pray.

Re: How to flash a BenQ Xbox 360

Hey guys I was reading 2-5 pages of threads and started to get a headache..lol so i have a few questions

#1- My chipset is.. where heres all the info
NVIDIA-MCP61 taken from CPU-Z
nForce 410 or 430
Do I need to buy a PCI-SATA card or will my mobo read my BENQ drive?

#2- I only have 2 SATA ports and 1 is for the DVD drive and 2nd is for my hard drive.
Can I unplug one of them so I can plug in my BENQ? If so Hard disk or DVD or either?

I will be driving around town tomorrow picking up the tools and stuff so I'm probably doing this tomorrow.

Thanks for your help
UPDATE:10/24/2008
Well I guess I can answer Both my questions.
since it worked perfectly for me, no need to buy the SATA-PCI card but I will probably buy it in the future for further PC upgrades.
Found out my Motherboard SATA port numbers by doing these steps.
Remember to disconnect all HDD and DVD/CD drives you have connected
#1- Go into the dos mode like if you already knew the port number.
BUT instead of doing the first read command type this
dosflash
then its going to list all the ports including IDE (if any)
SATA port 0 (printed on MOBO)= SATA PORT PRIM
SATA PORT 1 (printed on MOBO)= SATA PORT SEC something like that.
And there you have your port numbers. Then you can proceed with the installation

Re: How to flash a BenQ Xbox 360

Hi, i've got two questions i'd like answered if possible?

Q1: I'd like to know how you can tell apart the Philips/BenQ and Philips/LiteOn drives without taking the console apart?

Q2: Is the flashing method the same for these drives, I'm looking to flash a Liteon drive? I've already flashed a BenQ drive using this forum, great instructions!

Thanks!

1. Where you look for the wires in the hole, if the wire is yellow it is a lite-on

2. You cant flash a Lite-On yet

Tut = amazing, worked perfectly after I wrestled with constant errors and weird anomalies my computer decided to throw at me. At numerous times I had to ask Venomous personally for help and he made anything confusing me completely clear and understandable (if you dont know me I am an idiot like 90% of the time).

Great Tut

How to flash a BenQ Xbox 360

Hi, noob here. I have a Benq and having trouble flashing it. I purchased and installed the VIA 6421 card. I no problem booting the PC with my USB stick. Pressed Dosflash16 and got a complete "No ATAPI found" down the line. I tried using both SATA ports on the 6421 card, but got the same results.
When I look at the "Scsi and Raid controllers" in my device manage . The card shows up. I looked at my port number in the "Property--->Resources and it show the port as 8000(that might be the problem).
I then tried it using the Dosflash32 way of doing it thinking it was a Dos thing , but it still was unable to find the port. Got the same old 8000 error.
Can anybody suggest a solution. Thanks for your time.
