| Novice | Re: How to flash a BenQ Xbox 360 The guide says to plug the power cable into the 360 & nothing else, but I remember when I flashed my last 360, the guide said to keep the video cable plugged in during one part. Am I missing something? Also, on the tutorial I used for flashing my last 360, it said to install the SATA card in the "0" port near the front of the PC. I think that's where my card is now. Can I just proceed and keep my card there and just use the info that I got from my Device Manager for where it is currently? Or do I need to move it to port 1, and if so, how do I know where that is? Is that probably the only other port I have then? Last edited by sadie8686; 10-15-2008 at 12:02 AM. |

| Novice | Re: How to flash a BenQ Xbox 360 i might be wrong, but i think some of the older 360s would throw on red lights if the video cable was not plugged in. my friends did, mine (a newer one than his) did not. in any case, you dont need to have the video cable in, i didnt when i flashed mine and it worked perfectly also, the port for the sata card is referring to the port on the sata card, not where the card is installed in the pc. it means the port on the sata card itself nearest the front of the pc is where you plug in your sata cable. | Novice | Re: How to flash a BenQ Xbox 360 Ok. So I should plug the cable in on one of the internal ports. Well, I believe the tutorial I used back in the day on my other 360 said that the port nearest the front of the PC was port 0. Which is port 1? Would that be the other internal port? Also, can I leave the video cable plugged in just in case? Thanks. Last edited by sadie8686; 10-15-2008 at 11:54 AM. |

| Novice | Re: How to flash a BenQ Xbox 360 you should be able to leave the cable in, i dont see a problem with that. i would assume since port 0 is the the port nearest the front of the computer then port 1 would be the next available internal port. im relatively new to this modding stuff myself, but that seems right. | Novice | Re: How to flash a BenQ Xbox 360 Ok. I think I understand everything now. But now it is not booting from the USB boot disk. Don't you just set it up like the picture by placing the folder in the C drive and simply create it right? When I boot from USB device, I get Microsoft(R) Windows 98 (C) Copyright Mirosoft Corp 1981-1998. I then run the Dos flash command but nothing happens. I can't get to the screen on the tutorial. | Novice ![]() | Re: How to flash a BenQ Xbox 360 There isnt a port 0.... cards with 4 go 1,2,3,4... On the card there will be a little number printed next to it and make sure you have the CONTENTS of the dosflash folder, not the folder itself Last edited by Venomous Fire; 10-15-2008 at 05:01 PM. | Novice | Re: How to flash a BenQ Xbox 360 I did only put the contents of the Dosflash 16 folder in the USB root directory. I didn't use the entire folder itself. What about the iPrep method? Will that work for any BenQ drive? I would like to follow this tutorial, but its not booting for some reason. I'm sure I could finish everything if I could get past this part. I tried the iPrep method, and I can't get it backup my original firmware. It doesn't recognize the 360 when I enter the serial. Don't you have to back up your original firmware before you flash it? Or should I go to the next option on the iPrep method and go ahead and flash it? As for the card, I have 2 slots internally, and 2 slots externally. I figure you want me to use the internal slot closest to the front of the PC, huh? I followed the pics in this tutorial for creating the boot disk, and copied the contents of the dosflash 16 folder, so i don't know what's wrong. Last edited by sadie8686; 10-15-2008 at 05:29 PM. |

| Novice | Re: How to flash a BenQ Xbox 360 I got a little more success. First, when I boot up in the USB drive, my screen doesn't look like yours, it just has those couple lines about Win98 I wrote in my earlier post. Next, I run the command, & I do get a response now, but it's just an explanation of each part of the command, it then says to press any key to continue, and then it displays an example of a similar DOSFLASH command, and then it prompts me again with C:/> How do I get it to let me start with A:/> instead of C? I'd like to try that as well; even though, I have a hunch something else is wrong, since I don't have the screen you are looking at for the first step. Also, my screen says "VIA Technologies, Inc. VIA VT6421 RAID BIOS Setting Utility v4.50 Copyright, and then on the bottom of that it says "Scan Devices, Please wait...No disk attached, then it has the "Microsoft (R) Windows 98, (C) copyright Microsoft Corp 1981-1998. | Novice ![]() | Re: How to flash a BenQ Xbox 360 If you get the list of commands you want to stay in whatever drive you were using, Im assuming C and if you get the list of commands that means you are making a typo when typing the command. Make sure you are using YOUR port number and have the FULL command correct |

| Novice | Re: How to flash a BenQ Xbox 360 Thank you! The process is actually very simple after you do it once. Can you use this process on other drives other than BenQ? It was my port# too by the way. Last edited by sadie8686; 10-15-2008 at 09:42 PM. |
