| 7S Enthusiast | Re: How to Flash any Xbox 360 Drive with a Laptop well if you know what a PCMIA slot is, a express card slot is about half the width. im not too sure if it can with an express card, but i dont see why not. i guess someone will have to try it out and let the rest of us know. thats what i did with a PCMIA card, i figured it was worth a shot and tried it. all i know is i have a dell xps m140 laptop with xp.. i have a black dell inspiron laptop with vista too...... i also have a old inspiron laptop with xp.. all have a slot on the side except for the inspiron with vista... can anyone tell me what kinda slot i have? plz lol |

| Novice | Re: How to Flash any Xbox 360 Drive with a Laptop Hey, I have an Acer Aspire 5100 series laptop and was wondering what exactly I needed to get the hardware set up? I'm pretty sure I have a PCMCIA slot on the side of my laptop for the SATA card and it looks like I also have a SATA port already on the side of my laptop (right next to my PCMCIA slot). With that said, if that actually IS a viable Sata port, do I need to order a VIA PCMCIA Sata card? Attached are the pics of the computer management window and the side of the laptop, 2 jof them [with the PCMCIA port & Sata port(?)]. Thanks for the help. comp_man.JPG sata_pcmcia_1.jpg sata_pcmcia_2.jpg |

| Novice | Re: How to Flash any Xbox 360 Drive with a Laptop Thanked both already. Also, I just looked on newegg (Newegg.com - Laptop Add-on Cards, pcmcia sata card). Would any of those cards be suitable? If not, would you happen to know which one(s) might? Thanks a lot. Last edited by mrozzy; 11-07-2009 at 06:05 PM. |

| Novice | Re: How to Flash any Xbox 360 Drive with a Laptop Oh yeah, not sure if you know how to do this or not, but a guy on my friends list got his xbox modded at a shop up in Canada and apparently, the guy doing the modding uses a hair dryer(?) on the seal sticker. I think he applies the HD, takes the sticker off and is able to put it back on so that it doesn't look like the xbox has been opened. I'm not sure if this works/is possible, but I'm assuming the heat does something with the adhesive of the sticker and allows you to re-apply it. Have you heard of anything like this or know of a way to keep that sticker on? In the event my console(s) get banned or RROD, I can either gut swap with a retailer and return OR send it in for repairs. If I send it in, I'd like to place the original BIOS back on so that I can get my RROD fixed without getting *****ed at by MS. Thanks. |

| Shut Up Woman ![]() | Re: How to Flash any Xbox 360 Drive with a Laptop Yeah, stupid me forgot that you listed that one off the tut. Thanks a bunch - thread is awesome. (PS - does the card come with that wire pictured, or do I need to buy another one?) If ur talking about changing the firmware (ur BIOS comment) you can change it back, just save the fw when you flash, and as far as i know you can send in a flashed xbox no problem. |

| Novice | Re: How to Flash any Xbox 360 Drive with a Laptop Yes it does come with the wire and its fairly long IMO. As for the blow dryer thing, that can be done, it works great! If ur talking about changing the firmware (ur BIOS comment) you can change it back, just save the fw when you flash, and as far as i know you can send in a flashed xbox no problem. Do I blow it on the sticker as I'm peeling it off and then just place the edge of it on a counter for later use? What about placing the sticker back on - do I blow dry the sticker as I'm putting it back on as well? Thanks. |
