Re: How to Firmware Mod your Xbox 360 using Windows 7 64-bit

ok so i finally got the pc to read the drive....now running into another problem.

i do read flash on dosflah....save it as orig.bin. then i run jungleflasher as admin. i do "open source firmware"...i choose the orig.bin i just save and choose open. i get the message then asking if i want to auto load samsung ixtreme...so i choose yes. after i press yes, i get a message saying:

cannot open file c:\users\myname\desktop\folder\dosflash_v1.8_se7en sins.com\jungleflasher v0.1.66beta\firmware\ix16-samsung.bin.

any ideas? or am i doing something wrong?

thanks.

simply can't open it by itself. Do it manually. Click open taret firmware and follow that directory to the firmware and select the samsung firmware. Although since you have a samsung. You should be flashing with 1.61 and not 1.6.

thats what i thought too. i got 1.61 from xbins and saved it to the firmware folder. ...but when i do "open source", i choose my orig.bin file i just saved and thats what it says...

so do i have to do open source FW and choose the 1.61 bin file i just downloaded rather than choose the orig.bin file i just saved?

Open source firmware and open your original.bin firmware file. Now when it says "Would you like to auto load..." Just tell it no.. Then click the open target firmware and open the 1.61 firmware file. Then click spoof source to target. Its very simple.

Re: How to Firmware Mod your Xbox 360 using Windows 7 64-bit

I was wrong on my chipset it is a ICH9. which also should work. But let me ask you all this. Why is the drop down menu blank . It drops down but there is no numbers, text anything in the box. I have done the signed driver and ran it in admin.

I think if i could figure the empty drop down menu out i might have a chance.

Re: How to Firmware Mod your Xbox 360 using Windows 7 64-bit

thx for the GREAT tutorial, n00b here just trying to flash my ix1.51 -> 1.61 on 7x64... i put the 6421 card in and the device gets recognized as RAID Controller but no driver gets installed automatically... would this be the same state i want this in as your instructions say (remove the driver after it's installed)? will dosflash still be able to work with the card even though windows 7 does not have a driver setup for it.... or should i install a valid driver and then follow your instructions?

also is there any difference in procedure flashing a virgin xbox vs upgrading from 1.51 as i'm doing?

thx in advance

You are good to go.

No difference in procedure unless you have your orig.bin somewhere, you can just spoof the fw, erase and write.

I don't know what you could be doing wrong. If it's connected via SATA and you are turning your Xbox on after win7 loads and then booting up dosflash...I really don't know where the problem is occurring.

Re: How to Firmware Mod your Xbox 360 using Windows 7 64-bit

OK . got it flashed. This is what i had to do. I had a second hard drive so i installed windows 7 64 bit again , but this time in the bios i set it to legacy and under sata i set it to IDE. everything else went normal.

Now i just realized i flashed 1.6. so is there a quick way to upgrade it to 1.61? or do i do it all over again? And is it worth upgrading even though i don't use the XBL. I have sign in automatically disabled and accessing the internet is turned off to it via the router.

Re: How to Firmware Mod your Xbox 360 using Windows 7 64-bit

Ok, first of all great guide! was scared i wasn`t able to flash my 360 with my win7 64bit. But i ran into a problem. at my computer during the part of rebooting and seeing the windows testmode message in the corner of the screen, it just doesn`t show up. its blank like normal. and i did as you wrote in your guide.

so i gave up on that pc, now i am on my dad`s pc als running win 7 64 bit, i managed to get this one in testmode however, i did the same as with my own Acer. but lets continu,
now i hooked on my drive with sata to my mobo, now running dosflash i get the message you describe as the message for the Samsung, but my drive is a BenQ??

then when i click yes and turn on and off my 360 nothing happens in dosflash..

so in short,
what do i do wrong with not getting my Acer in testmode?
what might be the problem with my dads pc for the not working dosflash?
ohyeah, is the nvidea, nforce (sorry for get the numbers!) able to flash?

great thnx!

oh sorry forgot to say,

the part where i am talking about the nvidea nforce thats my sata card.

oh yeah and sorry for my bad language skills, i am Dutch!
So greetings from the Netherlands!

Acer - Maybe you didn't "Run as Administrator"? Or maybe your UAC settings are set too strict. I like turning my UAC setting to off, so I'm not pestered about opening a program.

Dad's pc - did you unplug any other sata connections? If you have an extra hdd, unplug that one. Or maybe it's your nvidia chipset not being compatible. You might want to shell out the 15 bucks for the SATA card.

Re: How to Firmware Mod your Xbox 360 using Windows 7 64-bit

argh i was ready to go and then I found out I actually have a lite-on, not benq drive, i guess both have the same dvd platter shape? oh well

you mentioned another thread for lite-on instructions - can you link me to it? having trouble finding it... how different are the instructions for lite-on other than obviously having to use the lite-on firmware?

is 1.61 out yet for lite-on? i can only grab 1.6 from newsgroups with activate.iso
i have 1.61 for benq/samsung, as i thought i had a benq... sigh

Re: How to Firmware Mod your Xbox 360 using Windows 7 64-bit

How would I know if portio64.sys was loaded properly?

The reason I am asking is that after putting 7x64 in test mode and then signing the driver and rebooting, it's not seeing the 360 lite-on drive at all.... i went through all the ports and it's not seeing ANY drives whatsoever... the RAID drive shows up in Device Manager but I have not installed any drivers for it (as per your instructions)...
i am using the XBOX to power the drive, not a connectivity kit

i'm installing xp32bit on a separate partition to see if the card will get recognized there...

any idea what could be wrong? why is dosflash not seeing the drive? it recognizes my internal PC BENQ drive, which is IDE, but not the xbox one hooked up to the VIA card.

UPDATE: installed xp 32 bit and the driver from the included CD is not working either - says "cannot find the appropriate hardware" when I run setup. i tried Update Driver manually from the CD - does not work either...

It does recognize the card as "RAID Controller" just like in Windows 7, however I cannot get any drivers installed on it... perhaps i'll try jungleflash now on xp

UPDATE2: running setup on the VIA 6421 drivers in XP produces "cannot find suitable hardware" even though there is a "RAID Controller" entry in Device manager

might be dealing with a defective card?

Yeah, very well could be, especially if XP won't install it.
