Tut- How to upgrade from ixtreme 1.51 to 1.6 on Lite on drives

This tut is for the people that already have a flashed Lite On drive and want to upgrade to ixtreme 1.6. This is for Lite On only!!

Tools

1. Jungleflasher 1.6 http://rapidshare.com/files/24534428....1.62.Beta.rar

2. Ixtreme 1.6 repack RapidShare: Easy Filehosting

3. Make sure your portIO is installed correctly and your VIA drivers are uninstalled. If you dont do this your Lite On will lock up during erasing. How to install port IO on vista go here How to install PortIO32 in Vista

1. Power the drive with "half tray open"

2. Open Jungleflasher

3. Click the DVDKEY32 Tab

4.Select the Correct I/O port It should report back as PLDS DG-16D2S

5.Then choose to dump the dummy.bin

6. Then click dummy from Ixtreme.

7. Jungleflasher will now ask you if you want to Auto-load ixtreme for Liteon drives.
You need to have the jungleflasher firmware pack into the same directory as the jungleflasher.exe.
Click Yes if you have the firmware pack which you obviously do!

8. Jungleflasher should load your previously dumped dummy.bin as your source firmware.

9. Now click Spoof Source to target! Make sure the keys match!!
If you wish to save the file click save to file

10. This next step is the most IMPORTANT! Part of this process! Make sure you have read the tutorial properly and backed up your dummy.bin with your drive key!

11. Most of the time sending the Erase command to a liteon drive causes it to lockup the well known (Liteon+Via Freeze!, make sure the drivers for the via card are erased before attempting this part Install portio if you havent already.

12. Now to Erase the liteon Click the MTKFLash32 Tab, Verify the I/O Port is correct and click on Lite-On Erase!

13.jungleflasher will now warn you about having the correct/good drive key. If you are sure click yes.

14. Jungleflasher will now present you with another warning click Yes.

15.In most cases jungleflasher will return status codes as 0xd0/0x80/0xF2/0xD1
these all seemed to work fine! After pressing yes to both of them you should see some dots picture shown below, Power the Drive Off An then Power the drive back on ONCE!

16. You should now recieve back staus code 0x72 this tells us if you have good flash chip results, Drive should appear in vendor mode shown in flash chip properties

17.With the drive now being in vendor mode(status code 0x72), click the WRITE button to write the target firmware to the drive.

18.It should now say Write Verified OK! Once this appears click Send An Outro to the drive!
(this releases the drive from vendor mode and sends ATA reset to the drive!.it then sends an inquiry command to the drive.this just saves you from repower cycling the drive again.
If you have successfully Flashed the drive properties and flash chip properties should appear correct!

And there you go you can now play 3rd wave games, use your xbox to rip games and youll be somewhat safer. Any questions post on thread and Ill get to you when I can.I am not responsible for any damage you cause to your console. I have done many Lite Ons using this method and I have not messed up any of those consoles.If you are really confused or feel that you dont have the ability to upgrade, send it to somebody to do it for you.

You still need to open it, since your xbox is already flashed you dont need a key extractor all you need is to follow the tut to upgrade

Hi, i do not have the orginal firmware with key. Will this tutorial work for me? -and can i get the key from hacked firmware for later use?

You dont need the original firmware, if your xbox is flashed already, then the key is already in the hacked firmware.And yes you can save the key for later use.

There are many tuts out there on how to flash a fresh lite on, this tut tells you how to upgrade an xbox that is already flashed.

Awesome tut!!! Thanks alot!! I have a quick question I have been unable to uninstall my VIA drivers and when I flashed for 1.5 my drive did freeze but I was able to still save it and get it installed and it has been working like a charm...but is there a special work around (i know not guarenteed) in case the upgrade does lock up the drive that you know about? I searched around and didn't see anything I trust. I appreciate the help!

Sorry I dont know a way around it, I have never had any problems removing the via drivers, are you on xp or vista?

Before you attempt to do this, your xbox needs to be already flashed, this tut is for those who want to upgrade. If you have not flashed your xbox yet there are many tuts out there that can help you, depending on the drive that you have you may need additional hardware. If you have a lite on drive i recommend sending it to someone to flash it for you, because you have to buy extra hardware that you will most likely only use once.

Thanks for the reply . Yup my xbox is already flashed , i bought it around 2-3 weeks back . And later i came to know abt the firmware . so i have few questions now .

1. How should i hook up my drive to pc ?
2. What is the hardware involved in it ?
3. Whether i can play ORIGINAL cd like Prototype ?
Please help.

1. First you need to know what drive you have.
Take your faceplate off, look in the hole above mem card slot 2.If you see
Red wire= samsung
yellow= Lite on
white= benQ
no wire or plastic cover= hitachi

2. you need to buy a via 6421A sata card, you can find them on ebay.once you have your card installed to your pc, then open your xbox and connect it to your pc, after that follow the tut
3. You can play any game original or burned.
4. If your drive is not a lite on then this tut is not for you

Hmm, so I checked the Dummy.bin Only box and clicked the Get Key, Create Dummy.bin, Open as Source button and after saving the Dummy file, I got this:

Dummy.bin is missing some drive specific information.

If possible you should re-extract your drive info again with the latest tools..

You can rebuild the serial info if you have the original drive available. Tick advanced view, select the Serial sub-tab in the Source tab. Double-click the serial data to launch the Serial Re-build applet.

I have never gotten that error before.

1. Make sure its a lite on drive
2. make sure your drive is flashed already
3. Yes check the dummy.bin
4. try to dump your key again

Ok, so i clicked yes on that last dialog and it made me enter my serial codes manually. Found more info here LiteOn PCB Key - Team Xecuter.

So basically you have to get the serial code on the laser, and the other is on the back of the circuit board, so you have to unscrew it.

Then I had to manually spoof which consisted of:
1. Click "Open Target Firmware" (1.6 bin)
2. Click "Manual Spoofing" --> load key.bin and inquiry.bin
3. Click "Ok"
4. Click "Load Source Firmware" (Dummy_fixed.bin created from manually entering serials)
5. Click "Spoof Source to Target"
6. Click "Save to File"

So that's how I created the Lite_CFW.bin

Now I'm on the erasing step. Comp kept crashing and headed to bed last night. Will try again now.

Im glad you fixed your problem without my help.
Make your you have uninstalled the via drivers and have portIO drivers installed, thats probably why your computer is crashing

Well I've run into another problem. So last night when I was trying to erase the drive, it worked, then froze because I tried to erase it a second time just to make sure. Now JF won't detect the erased drive.

I've tried deleting the VIA raid driver to no avail. Any ideas on how to fix this?
