I have done this once before and it worked fine. It happened a second time today. When I type l-o-eras it says "invalid Ata command block register"

Just type l-o-eras.exe C850. Also try redownloading the files and then put them on the usb drive again.

Re: Unlocking a locked up Lite-on Drive

I need help?!?
i have a sata port that i flashed numerous drives on my laptop, but
I followed the instructions and after using the l-o-erase and choosing my port it says everything is unkown. i choose my number port and choose "W" in which is says "unknown flash chip". I'm not getting any press yes or no... im not sure when to unplug (power off/on) drive.
My bin file is ready its just when i goto write i get no response??
can someone go over steps again in detail or figure why its not getting a read on the flash but picks up the connection to the drive. and can someone drop a link to getting JF to recognize it after the freezing happens

The tutorial says exactly when to do certain things. Read it a few times and try it again. You are getting unknown flash chip because you do not have the drive in vendor mode.

You might also try adding that if a user can't get the status to FF80 or FF72 they should power cycle their drive and it will work.

Re: Unlocking a locked up Lite-on Drive

There is no need for that to be added.

These steps are made exactly how it should be done. Missing one step can cause it to give FF80 over and over again. Doing the steps right gives FF72 the second time.

Therefore there is no need for it to be changed.

Actually, I flashed mine and a friends lite-on and following your guide step by step on both, we couldn't get to FF80 or FF72 UNTIL we powercycled the drive. Hey, maybe you should try being a little less stubborn and acting like a know it all and take advice from people who are trying to help your guide.

Why should i take your advice?

I have done this to 50+ Lite-ons. Even when they are not locked up they respond the same.

First l-o-eras.exe command brings FF80.
Second brings FF72.

I am sorry that you cannot follow simple directions. This has been done by me and many many people. With absolutely no problems. So sorry to say this. But it is YOU that the problem was with. Not my guide.

Goodbye. Do not post again.

lol, I don't think you're "in charge of me" but all I'm trying to do is help your guide out, I followed your guide STEP FOR STEP and the first one for me on both drives did not bring up FF80 and didn't change as I tried some more, Will it really hurt to add "If you can't get the status to change, try powercycling your drive!" All I'm trying to do is help, don't get so damned defensive when people reach out dude.

You actually don't even need to shut off the drive before using dosflash, make sure you type in LITEON E when it asks you what to do, then dosflash again and W to write the FW
