Yes, this is a glitch where you can get on an overhang of a turret gun and fire away. If you go to ambush and head to the gun NOT in the house, just jump up on the overhang above the gun and SLOWLY go backwards while looking down. You will trigger the "Press Square" prompt and fire away while on top of the turret.
