I don't have a lag switch, but I'm pretty sure, you search for a game, turn on the lag switch until you are the only person in a match, then turn the lag switch off. Then people should hopefully join your game, and you'll be host.

Hope this helps

Yeah turn on the lag switch, find an empty lobby where your the only one in it, then turn off the lag switch.

Now if you have a DECENT connection you shouldn't have to worry about host migrating.

If you do not have a great connection, when there are enough players to start the game, and the teams will even out, you put your lag switch on for a few seconds, or you can turn it on and off quickly for a few seconds, until it gets to finding the best host..2 or 3 or so.

Then turn it off and you should force yourself host.

You can tell if you have host or not by watching your name on the list of players. If your name gets replaced by another person's name when it says migrating host, that player stole host from you.

Re: How to Force Host

Right forcing host on cod4 is sooo easy. you can force host with a **** connection
1. bridge your connection (if you dont know how to do this search for a tutorial)
2. use commview (or another ip capture program) to discover COD4 ips. dont know them from the top of my head. think it starts with 60 something.
3.add these ips to trusted zone in zone alarm
4 start up cod4 or W@W (method is same)
5.go to your lobby. search for a match, wait 1 second then put firewall on high
6. you should be in a lobby on your own. this is as far as people on here know so far....
7. release your firewall to medium. it should say waiting for x players to join. watch carefully. as soon as this number of players have joined then put the firewall back on high. obv if a clan of 6 joins then it would be you vs them 6v1 which it wont balance the teams so you would need to wait until 4 more joined to make it 6v5
8. when you put firewall on high it should say finding best host1,2,3,4... and on 4.5 secs release your firewall.
9 you are now host.

Thanks if i helped plz

This thread is amusing, at least to me lol. The work you guys put into getting host is remarkable. I also feel bad for game servers because most of the guys that work on them are seriously lazy or just don't care and that is when we all start *****ing about lagging when half the time its us and not them lol. Oh well, "interesting" thread bro.

You are right that a small minority of people are ignorant about who or what hosts the games.

Personally speaking, it isnt a lot of work for me because:
1)I have my laptop and xbox bridged (why pay such an extortionate amount for the wireless adapter)

2) I already have Zone alarm installed. (once again i'm a cheap skate)

3) I know about computers and networking

All that is left for me to do is add ip's to trusted and move my slider a couple of times
