One of two things, either you put the firewall on too late, or either swtched its IP. If you have commview you can check what the IP for the Gears server is. Just make it start searching for ips, and keep reseting it, and just check which IP keeps showing up.

i think we've fixed it now, its just that i read the IPs wrong so im going to try it again tomorrow

Becasue I've gotten host when I was second in the lobby. And trust me I've played plenty games where I know I'm host.

When the lobby is new, 0 Score next to everyone, host is on top. When someone joins and it changes host, then the scores reset. So you may have thought you were host, when you were not.
