Do you think that they should come out with surpresed sniper rifles?
What would you do if they did?

It wouldnt matter what we think. Its all on what THEY want to do. It would be cool, except if you were the other team and they were camping with them and you have no idea where tehy are.

surpressed sniper rifles are not really for snipersa, they are for cowards who dont want to be heard for the cost of effectiveness. loud snipers have more velocity and damage on any game or in real life

yeah but some GOOD snipers dont want to be spoted. i have been in lots of cases were if i had a scilnecer for my sniper rifle i would have lived and got more kills

Okay but tell me what is more effective, killing one, having everyone on the map knowing where you are and start shooting at you. Or killing many people and getting away safely without them every knowing where you were. I would rather be silent than strong.

The only times I get caught are when I kill tons and I don't move, they see where I am on the kill cam and come get me.

thats why the m95 is the best rifle on earth- if you hit them, they dont know what the **** happened becasue they're dead, also- if you dont get noticed, you are'nt a good sniper... trust me- watch shooter

Okay, you do realize that Shooter is a movie. In the movie shooter if you recall when he did not use a suppressed sniper he was at about a mile and a half away and during that time I am pretty sure they shot grenades at them like crazy and a helicopter killed the spotter. Perhaps if he had been using a suppressed sniper, they would of had no idea where he was, however with it normally it echo'd and they were able to pinpoint where the shots were coming from. Along with that the last time I checked not ONE multiplayer map in call of duty has the length of that measure. The other times he was using a supressed sniper such as when he was on the boat, they had no idea where he was when he killed them. It is more of a tactical advantage to have them not know where you are. You are using a movie as factual evidence to compare to a video game, that isn't a reliable source.

When you say "if you don't get noticed you aren't a good sniper." Have you ever heard of assasinations, black ops, silent killing. It is much more effective than saying "OH LET ME FIRE A BULLET THE SIZE OF A HAND AT HIM BUT ONCE I SHOOT ABOUT 500 OTHER GUYS ARE GOING TO KNOW WHERE I AM." The best sniper rifle depends on the situation, most of the time a silenced one is the best option.

First off, Shooter ****ing sucked, so unrealistic. Secondly, the Barrett .50 Cal is only used for one thing, Anti-Material missions (Not to mention it is being phased out to the better .45 cal version). The M40A3 is the most used Anti-Personnel sniper. A .50 cal also cannot be silenced due to the gas blowback feature on the barrel. That being said Silenced snipers would be the choice in a stealth mission due to it ability to remove muzzle flash, and technically its slight increase in accuracy. It would be okay to add to the game, but not very practical.

I have a few questions...

Since when has there been a .45 caliber anti material sniper in the works and why would it be "better"?

How is it possible that a sniper increases accuracy? I mean a silencer forces a bullet's speed to reduce to subsonic speeds thus decreasing your spin and distance in order to avoid a sonic boom.

Doesn't gas blowback occur on m4's? according to your logic they couldn't be silenced either.

Are you sure the M82A1, M95, or even the M107 for that matter are even gas operated? Last time I checked they are all recoil operated... Yes there is a massive difference if you didn't know. You might be thinking of the XM500 by Barrett Firearms (it also uses .50BMG)

Is the M40a3 the most used anti personal sniper rifle? Perhaps in the United States military but you didn't specify.

Is the M82 only used for Anti-Material? A rifle can only do so much to materials I believe it is also used for long range sniping of important targets. Whether other snipers, important people, a car, ect.

Are you even sure you cant suppress the M82?

I think you can it just adds massive recoil due to the muzzle break actually removing much of the recoil (source for this one http://guns.connect.fi/rs/50cal.html )

Now onto the idea for the game. I think that it would be a bad addition simply on the grounds that it could make some snipers too powerful (primarily the semi automatic ones) in a gametype without kill cam. It would just be so much harder to find anyone. I personally think it would take away from the fun of the game.

i would like to see any of you shoot the m95, first off youd be better with the silencer off because when you get up after you fall down after shooting it, atleast you wont have a stupid looking gun with you
