Have you ever got an error while joining peoples parties then this is the right tutorial for you.
Why the problem happens
5% Firewall (fixed by turining your firewall of or lowering it)
5% Ip conflict (fixed by unpluging your modem for 1-2 min)
90% Strict NAT settings or Upnp is enabled? (read more for problems how to fix)
What is NAT?
Have you ever wonderd why your computer has the same ip as your xbox? Well it has to do with NAT. NAT takes all your remote ips (192.168.x.x) and broadcasts it as a remote ip. It was meant to make life easier for people who bought dsl and knew nothing about networking. It turned out to be a pretty good "firewall" of sorts.
What is Upnp?
Universal Plug and Play mode. It does exactly what is says make it so you can plug your xbox in and play right away.
(Note not every1 has the same modem / router so steps are vague)
Steps taken to solve the problem
1. Find out who is cuase the problem.
The person you are trying to join or you have strict NAT settings? If you or him have 360 then you can check by going to dash then network and test xbox live connection.
(Note if you have moderate do not do anything in this tutorial because more than likely there is nothing you can do except for thing in bold)
Some modems have mini router capiblilties bluilt into them so if you go from modem to router to xbox your routing twice wich is a no-no. Buy a switch (not hub) for like 15$ and replace it with your router. All switches do is make it so you have extra ports nothing else.
If you have scrict this is what you do
Press start > run > type cmd
In the black box type ipconfig /all
Find where it says gateway and type that ip into your internet explorer. If it asks for a user nam and pass it is admin.
Once in there turn your firewall off. If you still cant join thier party find where it says Upnp and turn it off.
you might have the do this for both router and modem.
