How to Softmod your Xbox with SID 4.0

Um, the best thing I can say to you is to resoftmod your xbox. The NKpatcher seems to deteriorate over time. I dunno why it does that, but it does. So yeah, I would resoftmod.

OK, what is the correct way to do that. I tried the "restore softmod" option in SID4, but now I get an intermittent "13" error.

Do I select "uninstall softmod", or "restore ms dash", or some other method?

Ok,
I have the xbox fixed with the SID4.0 softmod where it will now boot up correctly, Dual Boot/open = retail. And I can switch to xbmc vial the evox apps menu.

Now I want to upgrade the hd to a 320gig that I have and I have read this tut TechFreaks v2 a couple times but it does not seem to be written for the SID4.0 softmod drive format since SID4.0 uses a "phantom" C:. I have no files in C: but I have a significant amount of files in E:, X: and Z:
So if I follow the steps in the hd tut some of my files will not be sent to the new/larger hd.
What do I do?

Secondly, The Shadow C is protecting your HDD. If you want an app that will bypass it and allow you to get to it. Use this app by me haha.

Breyden you are welcome, Also how did the upgrade go? WD is a very reliable brand and just to confirm, you don't need a modchip for big hdd a softmod will do as long as the original EEPROM is put in the new hdd and is locked. any size is possible on the xbox.

Suasponte If I understand your post correctly you are saying that your xbox Is modded with sid4 and when you turn it on it Always puts ms dash correct?

If so check if the led circle is green or red, More likely it will be red If so the xbox is working properly And the reason why it runs into ms dash is because the time has not been set correctly.

The original xbox resets the time after being unplug from power for more then 3 hrs.

Just set the time correctly and the xbox will load fine.

for the upgrade in hdd see the link in my sig it is one of the easiest methods.

Also this goes for EVERYONE when making a new / bigger hdd you are going to start fresh once you have sucessfully made the new hdd and it works with your xbox (booting up ms dash) you will Re mod from there.

Also yes the shadow C is coded to protect from simple mistakes So if you are trying to show how to avoid or to remove shadow C

then why use sid 4 to begin with? Also when done properly you can install apps / games / pics / vids / music/ emu/roms etc etc with no issues.....

current state is my factory 8 gig hd in my ver 1.6b xbox is softmoded with SID4.0 and works correctly where "open on = retail/factory boot (green LED)" and "power on = evox boot (red LED)".

The part I am confused about in all of the large hdd mods using xboxhdm is that it refers to copying over my C:/ folder files and I do not have any since my SID 4.0 modded xbox uses the "phantom C:/" and there are no (zero) files in my C:/ drive to copy to the xboxhdm C: folder.

All the files that are shown in the hdd tut you referenced in your email as being in C: are actually in E:\backup\eeprom. There is also one additional file in this location titled "SID4" with a file size of 4 kb.

Ok, I reread your post and I think I should just take the files shown in the tut as located in C:\ which are actually located in my xbox E:\ folder (less the SID4 file) and put it in the C;\ folder of the xboxhdm folder. Is that correct?

Use XboxHDM and an app that lets you bypass the Shadow C and allows you to copy your C drive. I recommend

ok how about this to make it simple, to make a new hdd with a softmod you just need

a ms dash which is 5960 (found on E/backup/

and your EEPROM (found again on e/backup/

the ms dash can also be found on the internet,

once you have those 2 files get a hdd (your choice of size)

fellow the link on my sig

if you did it right your xbox should load ms dash as if its your first time turning on the xbox (only you have a bigger hdd)

once you did that you re do your softmod again

at this point you can use aid to install your apps emus / roms etc etc

easiest way is that way.

normal everything is on C but we shdow it so its moved to E/backup/

I finished the softmod and 160g hd install this weekend. Streaming music/videos/pics from my home server, playing games from the hd, and etc. It works great.

hey i have been moding xbox for years now and just purchased a new modded xbox and it seems someone used sid installer for this xbox and for the life of me i cannot find a eeprom.bin file anywhere
there is also no dashboard folder in the e directory i am wanting to wipe the hd and start fresh with my installer so i can install xb,c as the main dash can anyone help me out

Hey guys,

I've soft modded 3 Xbox'es in my day, and never had a shred of problems. After getting a batch process error with one, I switched from nDure to SID4. It installs completely, and when I boot up I get an MS dash with a red LED. I played a few different games in campaign for a few minutes, saved, ejected, turned off and on again, and the same problem keeps happening. I end up back at the MS Dash asking me for time. Any idea why this would screw up so bad? It's rather displeasing. Hitting eject to boot brings me to the SID installer menu, even with no game in, which seems somewhat disconcerting.

Edit: Also, forgot to mention, I still got the batch process error when I tried to do dual-boot, so I ended up just hitting single NTSC. Should I be worrying more about fixing the batch process error?

I would personally go back to NDURE. SID4 has problems. Im not really gonna dog them because I know members who help code it still lurk these forums. But, I would recommend going back to NDURE.

Hey whats up, My first post

So anyways i had this this old modded xbox havent used it yrs because it would just shut off randomly. But i found a fix and did that while i was in there in noticed that there is no chip. But at the ms boot screen underneath the xbox logo it says xecuter2 where it used to say microsoft. So i kinda just figured it was chipped (Had a friends friend do it). Now my question is, is this some sort of flash and can i use a burned copy of splinter cell, mech assault to do the soft mod so i can have xbmc

Burn a game or burn AID to a disc and see if it will play. If you have a chip, it should play and then from there (if using AID) you can install some dashboards

EDIT**** Okay so i burnt aid it booted up great gave me a bunch of options i started to install everything the dash,emu,xbmc all went well shut the xbox off started it back up no new dash i don't understand? and help would be great also i can't use the power button i have to use the disc open button do you think this has anything to do with it thanks again for any replys

Forrestmaster you know i have a name amog others as well, Yes its true sid4 can be slight buggy due to the way it was coded to prevent newbies from screwing up with their xbox's.....

Really I see it like this ; if the guy couldnt figure out how to solve the simple xbox ms dash boot then chances are he'll break his xbox with ndure mode.

Now I dont know what happend to my post but i wrote a long one explainging why it boots to ms dash... (i think it was on a sid4 trouble shoot thread)

long story short; for color indications Red means not safe for xbox live green means ok to xbox live,

Now when the ms dash loads Time/Date Fix the time/date and reboot see if its fixed if not re do the same step until fixed


Oh forrest for the record the best hacking in softmod for a guru like us is just to replace the fonts / sigs and have no scritps or codings that will cause glitches and bugs

check the .xbe or whatever dash ex evox. " blank command here like xbe"

and for the power thing i think it has to do with how the chip was wriiten or the bios,.... i dont know much about mod chips only soft mods.
