Q: Me and my team are waiting in the mm for freaking ever, no games are being found, huh?
A: Just make sure you joined your friends party, or maybe it selected a new party host thingy, just have your host leave, join his party separately, put firewall on high, and then invite friends.
Q: I join my friends party and I lag out, or if I join him and then invite friends, they can't join, what gives?
A: If you joined his/her party with friends, it could be the above solution, or it could be that you have incompatable networks and routers, and that would be the solution for others cant join.
Q: How can I tell who is host?
A: Really the only surefire way to tell who is host is only by using a program like cain and able or commview, The IP that has the most packets overall, or if you are host, you would be sending and recieving packets to a lot of IPs at ABOUT (not exactly) the same amount
Q: I lag out whenever I try to force someone host, before or in the mm process, helpzorz?
A: We use the theory of host ban to explain this, after a few days of strait standbying, we think you are put on an unreliable list. There is currently no way to get off, the best bet is to host lots of custom games and play legitly. Do not say you've been unhost banned because people usually jump the gun when they say they're host banned, experiment with multiple groups and try the next day too before you declare youre host banned.
Q: Can I get banned for standbying?
A: Currently no. Since Bungie split from Microsoft, they forfeited a lot of rights, they could ban you from their server but they aren't enforcing that right now. They can, also, send cheating reports to the Live Team, but I've never heard that before.
TECHNICAL ISSUES:
Q: When I use an auto standby program, it doesn't work, doubleu tee eff?
A: The program just basically tells the computer to press the up arrow and down arrow at set rates, so once you click start, you drag the internet firewall to high. Also, make sure your networks are under internet rules.
Q: When I open up Cain and Able, it says I need admin privilages...
A: Ya... run it in an administrater acct on your compy...
Q: When I try to use Cain, some error comes up like winpcap not found or error, or network not found, etc., yawr?
A: Best way is to uninstall cain and the winpcap, and reinstall them.
Q: I am wireless bridging or two port bridging, I get errors such as IP required is used or IP confliction, mawrrawr?
A:
~The IP in use problem is due to your router having the IP configuration needed for your computer to make a network bridge. Log in to your router from your internet explorer by typing in 192.168.0.1 into your address bar (googling your router brand and model for your user and pass) and changing your router IP and DNS to something else like 192.168.1.1 or something.
~The IP conflict is that there are two devices on your network that have the same IP, that can't happen so try entering in manual settings (your xbox would have the IP 192.168.0.xxx 255.255.255.0 and DNS 192.168.0.1 becuase its going through the computer bridge.
Q: Everything was working just fine, now nothing seems to work, ahhhh!
A: A good restart of your compy and xbox to flush everything does wonders...
FAQ
Terms:
MM - matchmaking
Bridging - The act of rerouting your connection through your compy
Standbying - The act of cutting your connection and giving it back when you're host so it lags the other players
Host - The Xbox where everyone connects to
Forcing host - The act of manipulating the game to make a desired person host
Host Banned - The theory that states that after a while of standbying, you're put on an unreliable list so you wont get host anymore
Why cheat? - There are many reasons people will cheat:
~ :1: You are a bad player and you just want to look good in a pathetic attempt to proove their nerdiness.
~ :2: You have gotten legit 50's and you want other accts to a 50 but you don't have time to get them that high so you take the easy way out, even if you've gotten the legit 50 so it doesn't matter.
~ :3: You play different games and you could give lessacrap about Halo and you just want everything in Halo so you can move on to other games.
~ :4: You would rather play the game to learn game programming and how it works, rather exploiting the game than anything.
~ :5: You do it occasionally because its funny to hear other fat nerds screamming on the other side...
OTHER
Q: How do I boot people when host?
A: NOT talking about b.o.t.z because this site is smart enough to eff with the feds, make sure your bridger keeps his firewall on high, and then you find an IP, add it and block it, then either keep standbying if you are or set both firewalls to med.
Q: Boosting... what?
A: Boosting bridging wise is easy, have two full parties, add everyones IP, one bridger to each team, firewalls on high and each party starts game. No you cannot get banned for this OR EXP boosting.
