Lag switches are useless....
Put the switch between your modem and router, or make sure you dont flip the switch for too long.
An alternative solution would be to bridge your connection with your PC and use Zone Alarm.... since you obviously are wanting to standby.
What a lag switch does is completely stop your internet by disconnecting the ethernet cable....
Well...
It doesn't "completely stop your internet by disconnecting the ethernet cable", it stops you receiving packets from the internet by breaking the receiving cable.
You can still send packets.
And it doesn't really matter where you put it... as long as it's not attached directly to the XBOX, because the XBOX can detect voltage differences between the cables in the patch lead. You could attach it to the exchange box half way down your street
