It does indeed come with good capturing software that will capture the video in multiple video formats. The only problem I ran into in the beginning was I didn't know that wmv files could not be loaded into Sony Vegas so I had to go back and convert all of them to avi. Once I learned that lesson, I started capturing video in avi and now it's a breeze.
Since I bought mine, the have upgraded to a newer version. It looks to have even more options than mine and I would definitely recommend this product.
